Get It Into Perspective

This is all getting very tedious.

I have supported Slough for over thirty years and have enjoyed the experience on the whole. But to suggest Slough Town is any more than a form of entertainment, as with any other football team too, is ridiculous.

To suggest we should be providing our services, and perhaps money too, to continue the life of a very badly run business, I find a little naaive, and a touch offensive.

It is commendable that some do put a lot of time and effort into ensuring the survival of the club, but for me I can think of much more worthy causes, and the lack of support shown to the STSA would suggest a lot of people feel the same.

Should Slough Town survive then we will all trudge along game after game, and enjoy the ride. Should Slough Town fold.....so what ! We will find another team to support and that is that....after all.....It Is Only A Game

I would suggest that if you had supported Slough for over thirty years you would be willing to keep the club going to recreate the wonder years of the 70's or the mid to late nineties with the Conference football.

I'm a bit too young for experiencing the first bit, and only really came along regularly about the same time as Deaner (for my sins), but I want the club to get back towards the Conference, and make the town proud to have the side doing well again as it can be.

no money for stfc would be good

why?

deaner would have to pay the bills

not possible

he aint got the money cos his boss (put your own conclusion here) wont give it to him

so stft/stsa would then inherit from council

they get mortgage buy wexham park

bo bust bulldoze ground

build houses call all the roads after top players

steve thompson sq

tommy langley drive

who cares

no one or there would have been over one thousand people at the town hall protesting wouldn't there

SLOUGH TOWN R.I.P

Sad as we all are--we have a town that doesnt care, a Council that doesnt care, a Chairman who may care but doesnt demonstrate the fact with actions and those that do care just cannot do anything more about it at present. Is there in fact anyone who knows enough to be able to sum up what needs to happen to rescue the situation and more importantly who can make it happen. What are the council currently doing, what is |Deaner doing and is there anything the Thornes can do without some knowledge of either of these. STSA are powerless on their own.

Instead of keeping on slagging off Deaner, why not hold back on the insults to him. I'm sure he must read the items posted on the forum, so all everybody will do is alienate him even more than has been done already. I'm the first to agree that as supporters we have been kept in the dark, but constantly slagging him will not help and may well see him gone for good. Some may say good, but if there is still an inkling that this new stadium could happen I think we should at least hold back on the insults. He must feel something for Slough otherwise he would not of been here as long as he has

Not wishing to be cynical, but failing miserably, but maybe a plot of land and a club for his son to play at has something to do with what he feels for Slough.

I'm sure as a supporter of Slough Town you were at the meeting where he said he had been writing letters and making phone calls to the council etc, only to be let down at the end. If the man gets no answers from the only people that can help with the use of the land, how can you claim that he has failed miserably when it was all the fault of a council who from what I can make out, having lived in Slough all 36 years of my life are probably fast becoming one of the most corrupt in the land. After spending time and money to that extent he has every reason to feel annoyed, and also every reason to walk away for good, but as of yet has'nt totally. So all I am saying is while we still have a shred of hope that it may still all go ahead, lets be a bit more careful in our choice of words to probably the only person at the moment who can keep a decent level of football being played in Slough.

What is this? Be Nice to Deaner Week? The poor club is caught between him (anyone want to name one thing he's done right?), the Thornes and a manky council. That's the disaster. They are all either useless to STFC, dont give a toss, or both.

If Deaner had wanted to be in a position to pressure the other parties say 4 years on from when he came to STFC, he wouldnt have dragged the club to new lows.

It needed to be in a position of power:

1. have a growing fan base (represented within the club at board level),

2 be involved with community through schools, residents groups and multicultural associations

3 have excellent potential in league structure

4 and support of town's businesses and newspapers.

Then the council would have had to be very careful about snubbing the club. At the moment it can get away with murder. Of STFC.

Deaner wont listen to other people. That's his major fault line. The clocks ticked round 5 years with none of the above 1-4 list achieved. That lot was Deaner's job.

Thornes dont listen to other people. Why should they? They got away with kicking the club in the guts 5 years ago and now Deaner owes them dosh.

The manky council doesn't need to listen to STFC fans, so it listens to others with more potential voting power.

What a mess. And still people follow the Deaner dream.
