RAMSGATE

On the iBlue forum yesterday somebody changed the word 'Ramsgate' in one of my posts to a derogatory term. Now I'm all for friendly rivalry, but I do not use insulting language, and I am rather annoyed that my words were altered.

For the record, I was poking fun at a particular individual. I have no problem with the town of Ramsgate, where many of my friends live, or with the football club, where people I know or have had dealings with have always been friendly and courteous.

I am sure it was meant in fun, and I don't mean to be a killjoy, but listen guys: if you have something to say, do it under your own name, not mine.

As a Ramsgate supporter, i dont really have a problem with Margate supporters having a dig at Ramsgate, its part of the game, As i not seen the above article, its on another forum ,so i wont comment, but to have a dig and hide is a bit cowardice, most people know me, i Know a few Margate supporters and of course the banter is alway (well moslty ;) ) good natured, and if im out of line, i always will put my hands up, i dont like it when its done in annomously, cant speak off the forum you talking about Chris1, but only admin or staff i would of thought could change posts,..

indeed Chris - you have to wonder who would be able to edit your posts on there? i know mods and admin on here are the only ones as Colin has said. Im sorry that someone felt the need to change your posts. I really appreciate your updates on the other forum and hope that you continue :)

I have just made a quick test post on the other forum and put the word Ramsgate in. It changed it automatically to Ramsghetto so would imagine it is some sort of glitch with the bad word filter or something along those lines.

If the guy who set up that forum looks in on here, maybe he could have a quick check on the IBlue settings to see if there is something in the preferences that would automatically change something like that. I think that you will find until he can take a look and change whatever setting is causing it, anyone who puts Ramsgate in a post will see it changed immediately.

I just had a quick look myself as I was given moderator status (I seem to recall that was simply so I could put html code in posts for league tables etc) but you have to be an admin to actually get into the forums settings. However, I have set up the same make of forum before and had some great fun trying to sort out an automatic bad word filter add-on that was in there. A post with Glass became Glbutt as it saw the 'ass' bit as a swear! Even silly things like Album got changed. You could not talk about Dick Turpin without it becoming gobbledegook and there was no point trying to discuss Scunthorpe. In the end, as I recall, it got so silly that I turned the bad word filter off and just hoped that everyone would behave!
