Marlow 0-1 Slough Town

Awful, awful game, but who cares as the three points is all that matters in the run-in. Own goal in the first-half by Johnny Gray sealed the win.

Marlow are a hard side to play against now they are not hit by injuries as they are well organised at the back and other teams like Burnham have had difficulty beating them as we did at home, so it's a great result for us as Sutton Coldfield also won today.

Thought the defence did well today MOM for me probably between Seeby, Sweeney and Harper.

Not a lot else to say on the match, but we have to keep winning and two wins over the BHW period is just what was needed, but still a long way to go.

Highlight of game was Elliott breaking a window!

Otherwise a game that will not stick in my memory.

As Chris said 6 points picked up over a weekend that could have had two banana skin games.

Now looking forward to Bury where hopefully there will be a crowd, unlike today where we yet again comfortably out-numbered the locals.

Definitely the worst game I've seen since we were woeful the season before last. As others have said, the two main moments were Johnny Gray's unfortunate own goal and Buchanan smashing a window. I think Ricky Perks tipped a free kick over the bar too, but that was about it. The result is all that matters but we need to be much better in the games to come - we certainly need to test the opposition goalkeeper! Good job we did win today though, as all the other teams around us also picked up three points.

Definately not OUR worse performance of the season. That still lies exclusively to the away performance at Atherstone.

I don't think the midfield helped what so ever today. Edgeworth was quite frankly useless, and a couple of them had no idea where they should be playing.

I think thats a bit harsh on Edgeworth. Although not a good performance from him, it was certainly no worse than some of his midfield colleagues.

I didn't say that though, did I? I said it was the worst game I'd seen in a long time, and it was. Actually I think we defended well today but the problems were at the other end. I don't recall either side having a shot on target and thus it was a poor spectacle.

That's because, ONCE AGAIN, our only attacking threat came from Sincs. It's a piece of p*ss to stop us creating chances when the opposition know they can weight their defence and midfield towards our right flank. On Saturday, when we also had Mo as an outlet and a threat it worked because it stretches the opposing midfield across the pitch. Yes, Marlow are a different kettle of fish to SYCOB but we'd have taken pressure off our own back four had we been more threatening going forward which, in my opinion, we would have been had Mo been out there.

The mid-field needs to have Sinclaire on the right, Mo on the left, with Bateman and Adam Martin in the middle.

Edgeworth does not work in mid-field as has been seen too many times this year and today proved it.

Up front a mix of two from Sonner, Buchanan and Sippets will then feed off the service of the mid-field I have described.

The best form of defence is attack!

Yes well done for a local derby, looking at the photos there must have been at least 30 behind the goal :290:

Windsorian: you may need to have a whip round to pay your players by all accounts. A fiver from each you should cover it. That will raise £40.

And what was WEFC gate on Saturday - f-all as the pitch was in such a bad state that it had to be called off! - top pitch in the leauge :bootyshake:

May be only 30 behind goal according to you, looked more to me, plus the ones standing down both sides, and those in the stand.

Crap game, highlight was broken window, that says it all! I thought mom was Elliott, but hey what do I know!

I am a bit disappointed, there is nothing like a bit of banter and this is nothing like a bit of banter. Must try harder ;)

Windsorian: why dont you do something constructive and help out with the state of your pitch and your players wages. Be interesting to see what happens next year at Windsor

now that Bedfont Green have seen the light. Oh and dont give any money to Scotty, he cant do simple maths.

Problem was it seemed that no one knew who was meant to be playing down the left wing, the 3 central midfielders we had out there seemed to be taking it in turns, which often left Elliot having to cover across with Danny Murphy being left along to cover the entire flank too.

3 points gained but we will have to create a lot more in the remaining games.

I personally think too much is being made of the left wing situation for this game. As said in previous months our midfield sometimes does not cover our defence enough particually when opposition play three in central mid against our two. Marlow play like that as well as a striker who played deep off Roache up front. By playing a narrow midfield we countered this problem and they failed to create much.

Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture, it's not just about us - it's also countering the oppositions strength which we did mon and as Gary said it's all about the 3 points at this stage

Despite what has been said on here, we have churned out performances that have been much, much worse than this (especailly over the past 3/4 weeks).

IMHO, this was nowhere near as bad as Barton or Biggleswade games in terms of our performance. Its odd that in a game where we picked up a much needed win (ending Marlow's 10-game unbeaten run), and picked up a rare clean sheet, all people can do is moan.

Thought Ricky Perks had an assured and confident game; hon. mentions go to Simon Sweeney who was like a rock in defence, and Danny Murphy for his constant fight for the cause. Adam Martin I felt also had a good game.

As for my criticisms, I thought that Elliot Buchanan and Steve Sinclair were the only players who looked like they had a clue what to do with the ball in the opposing half, and from where I was standing it looked like Paul Edgeworth can't pass for toffee, and dosen't show the sort of leadership you expect and need from a captain. Agree with Ian that Sinclair offers our only attacking threat from the right wing (whatever happened to Dwain Clarke - I read in the observer that he is unavailable, but was sure I saw him on Monday), so quite why we haven't recalled Tyrone Sealney is beyond me.

Time to addmy tuppence worth.

3 points, all that matters!

terrible terrible game of football.

Thought our best player was Danny Murphy, (although the back 4 looked good all game) Sinks ran his ass off and created some opportunities, Buchanan Battled, and James Beattie looked assured. Thought Kean and Edge both had very bad days at the office.

Personally id like to see Sam Bateman given more opportunities, and very suprised Duncan didnt start as he looked quality!
