Midweek Fixtures - 5/6/7/8 April

A report on this one from Tuesday evening from another's Forum if Sjj2112 has no objection:

St. Margaretsbury v Dunstable Town 2-2

Spartan South Midlands Premier Division

Adm: £6, including prog

Just for a change the referee deemed parts of the pitch too hard and had to be watered and worked on!

Once the game got going it was a very good watch, Dunstable taking a half time lead with a penalty on 38 minutes, then extending that on 57 with a free header. The Bury battled on and pulled one back with on 64 before getting the equaliser four minutes from the end.

All the facilities are on one side of the ground, where the entrance is. At the top of a bank is a stand with seats and standing areas next to which is the refreshment hut. Below the bank and all around is hard standing. The sports association club house is outside the confines of the ground.

The stand that went with the old Spartan League pitch is still in situ on the far side of the cricket square, and in reasonable nick.

A report on this affair from last night from another's Forum if Sjj2112 has no objections:

You know full well that I do, and I'm assuming that this is the reason you've chosen not to copy my match report from Wednesday evening.

However, I do acknowledge that I seem to be the only one that thinks the way you go about it is discourteous and against all accepted netiquette. This would, therefore, seem to be a green light from the forum for you to continue the practice.

Noted.

Rhodes from now on just post the links to the reports or they will not be approved, if someone else approves them I will remove them. The TK site even provides a link button I believe that makes this easy for you!!

You aren't the only one. I showed him ages ago how to copy the shortcut from the left of the posts on TK's forum but he was unable to understand the instructions (right click, copy link, then paste on here) that even an untrained chimp would find easy.

One consolation is that at least his ban from TK's forum is permanent.

I don't normally stick up for Rhodes cause he is a bit of a bell.

But on this one i really think that sjj2112 has gone overboard and is throwing his toys out of his pram. You have posted a match report on a open forum for all to read..Unless of course there are copy rights to your match report!!!!! I don't hear the BBC having a moan up when people cut and paste from their website..!!!!!!

All Rhodes is doing is allowing others who don't go on the TK website to read a match report, he has not even said it was his match report he states its a match report taken from the TK website....I think you really need to chill out and worry about the O-zone or the price of petrol rather then Rhodes posting a match report that you have written for all to see.

I must say that i like to read the match reports that are posted on here cause it saves me having to log into other sites or click on loads of different links....Is putting the results of the games on here not doing the same thing?????

Now Rhodes don't take this as a green light that i am your mate, cause i do think you go out of your way to upset people and start uncalled for rows. But i am a kind of chap that sticks up for people when i feel the need to...

I did state in my original post that I conceded I may be in a minority of one, although that has proved not to be the case.

Part of the problem here is that you have only recent joined the forum, and hence have only seen the latest posting regarding this subject.

A very brief discussion of who owns the copyright to forum postings can be read HERE. If I have followed it right, and it is possible I haven't, then there are two possibilities with regard to what I post on any given forum:

(i) I own the copyright. Therefore if anybody wishes to use it anywhere else then they should seek my permission and also acknowledge that it is my work

(ii) The forum owner owns the copyright. If this is the case then anybody wishing to use it elsewhere should seek the permission of the forum owner and acknowledge this fact.

By doing it the way he does Rhodes fails to meet the two criteria required in option (i) and only meets one of the criteria required in option (ii) - that of acknowledging the fact that it was posted on TK.

My underlying feeling is that it is MY choice where I post my match reports in there entirety. It is not up to somebody else to decide that they should be posted wholesale elsewhere at their whim.

Fortunately in this case there is a very simple solution which is to post a link to the report on the other forum. This allows people to access it easily - most people can manage a single mouse click - and at the same time preserves the wishes of the original poster and also allows people to see who the poster is. The BBC may not moan if you cut and paste some of their content for your own private use, but if you were to use for any kind of gain without acknowledging them as the source then they would soon be in touch. It is just a matter of common decency.

I am, however, the first to acknowledge that your view on the subject will differ from mine.
