Division Two

0 3 Caddington v Aston Clinton

A report on this one from yesterday from another's Forum:

Caddington 0 Aston Clinton 3

Spartan South Midlands League Division 2

The pitch lies behind a modern clubhouse. It is railed on the clubhouse side and behind one goal, there was a rope along the other touchline and a fence behind the other goal. There were also some interesting slopes on the pitch. All in all a fairly typical Step 7 ground. The atmosphere was "enhanced" by the cold wind blowing across the Downs. There was no attendance charged and no programme was available.

This was the second time I've seen Aston Clinton this season and for 3 out of the 4 halves they have really impressed me. They are a side that likes to play the right way which, given the standard of pitches in this league, is not an easy thing to do. This was a routine win for them and had it not been for a good display from the home keeper would have been more emphatic. Aston Clinton are still in with a shout of the title but I fear the number of games they still have to get through in what remains of the season may be what stops them.

Rhodes,

I have made it clear in the past that I think your habit of lifting match reports from TK without permission or acknowledgment is wrong. That is my view and you obviously disagree as you continue to do it.

In this case though you really have surpassed yourself. You have copied MY report that I chose to post to TK NOT FF without asking me if I was OK with it and without even acknowledging that it was my report.

Suffice it to say that I am not happy about this and am considering reporting you the moderators.

Sjj2112 - I had no idea that it was your report as I don't always check the far left hand side of the screen to see who has posted it however surely you are going a bit over board, if you feel so strongly about it then I'm sure NeutralFan will delete the post if you ask him. I'm surprised you attended Caddington v Aston Clinton actually, surely there were far more interesting fixtures to go to yesterday than that one

You post things without fully checking them first - I think that that explains an awful lot........

Are you being deliberately obtuse? You were the one that said that you didn't check who wrote the original report on TK. I have to say I find that pretty impossible to believe given that when you looked at my report on TK you would have seen, about 1 cm from the text, the self same photo of me that I use on this site. I accept that many of the reports you copy on to here have only a user name which you may not know, but in this case you must have copied the text with your eyes closed not to know exactly whose report you were lifting.

Hertford Town 1-1 Aylesbury

This could turn out to be a big result come the end of the season. To be honest this game was completely devoid of any quality, as ususal at Hertfordingbury Park the pitch never encourages good football. Aylesbury dominated the first half and took the lead with their only effort on target all evening with probably the best move of the game down the left side. They would come to regret their missed other opportunities which wither went over or narrowly wide. I expected Aylesbury to push for a second goal in the second half but credit to Hertford they gradually inserted some decent pressure with a very diirect approach. The Aylesbury keeper made two excellent saves but was well beaten at his near post with a well struck 20 yard effort in the 93rd minute. The closest Aylesbury came in the second half was when a Hertford defender mis kicked a cross over his own crossbar !!!

All in all a draw was probably the right outcome which could benefit Chalfont St Peter in a title race I expect to see go right to the wire, but Aylesbury will need to perform better than this to go up !

Meanwhile Chalfont dealt very efficiently (6-0) with a poor Hillingdon side.

Advantage Chalfont.

Aylesbury go to Hillingdon on Saturday and Chalfont entertain Colney Heath. More twists and turns?

a report on this game MB, taken from TK forum

Spartan South Midlands Lge Premier Division

Hillingdon Borough 0-6 Chalfont St. Peter

Admission: £6

Programme: £1.50

Tea: £1

Att: 70

Decided not to have a night off and prompted for a rare SSML game. 2nd bottom v top and boy did it show. 3 goals in each half gave a decent Chalfont side who didnt need to try that hard a very easy win.

Ground was far better than I envisaged. Terrace on one side in front of the clubhouse complete with crash barriers, also behind the goal to the right of the stand and cover behind the other goal.

There is also still some of the old pitch perimeter left from the Ruislip FC days before the pitch was turned round.

A report on this affair from last night from another's Forum if Sjj2112 has no objections:

Brache Sparta Community 0 London Colney 3

SSML Div 1

Att:35 (h/c)

0-3, should have been at least 0-13 on chances created by the away side, so one sided was this encounter. The Brache keeper excelled himself producing many fine saves. The home side for their part, never let their heads drop & continued to try and play, despite the demoralising sesason they've had.

I feared the worst on my visit to the Foxdell Recreation Ground, after hearing negative reports about the venue. Best i can say is it is functional for this level. A fully railed pitch within a rec, with floodlights sums it up, close to a residential/industrial part of Luton. The embankment to the M1 is on one side of the area as well.

Pitch had become incredibly dry as well, with the ball bobbling all over the place. Very evident when London Colney tried their best at a passing game.
