Why do we struggle at Hartsdown?

P.W.

First let me say I wasn't at the match today (working on Saturdays sucks!), but it seems once again we struggled to find the net at Hartsdown. (It didn't help that Radio Kent were there - they have often put a hex on our form)

We have some cracking results on our travels with away supporters lauding the battling performance of the team.

Yet when we're at home we struggle to score and often look ill at ease.

The support at HDP is not normally overdemanding, though towards the end of a game we should be winning the fans can get a bit quiet.

This is not just a recent case, this has generally happened since we returned to the new HDP after our ventures at Dover (& Ashford) in the Conference & Conference South.

Of course the lack of success at HDP leads to a drop in home support and the income the Club can generate.

Does anyone have any theories why this is happening? And/or how we can get back to having a 'Fortress Hartsdown'

I think the problem is that it is a bit inhospitable at the moment . Two sides have nothing, which is wide open to the elements, and on cold wet Tuesday night it is not pleasant. Even grant Cooper mentioned the cold in his interview yesterday. I think WHEN the new stand goes up it will feel a lot more enclosed and create a much better atmosphere for both the players and the fans.
