I thought Hodges was crap.Kept falling over, never had one shot and his only real contribution was a good header.Yet,time after time we go on about Andrew Deaner. Now I know what his father's like and that Andy isn't up to playing week in,week out first team football but the one thing he does,is to play with spirit and can be strong against the opposition. Why don't Slough supporters get behind their team whoever plays for them like the supporters of Midland/Northern teams do and not keep whinging about the same thing all the time.

morning all dave here. is there a future good question. looking at yesterday eddie trying desperatly to keep things ticking over and apears to be getting a nice foacsed teem together and when at northwood the penalty goes in i got exited and tried to be brave and celerbrate the little we have. northwood seembed to be a very friendly place with decient clubhouse in my appinion but lacking facelties. we seem to have a better place at wexham but look with tell tail signs everywere still no money still no grond and we are all here holding on to everything we mave have left. once again i will do my best transport and weather permitting to get to oxford and canvey but i think this may be a strugle only time will tell

heads up even in the gloom surely there must be a little light at the end of the tunnel

Andy D is a good bloke and generally plays his heart out. The way things are going STFC will soon be at a level where he can shine. Infact if the club manages to split from Deaner senior and has to drop a level or 2, Andy D could stay up front perhaps as long as he doesnot bring his Dad along.

Hes taken stick because of the level we used to be, and was outclassed and outfitnessed by players we had then, plus his unfortunate surname. Remember when it looked like some players of past would not pass to him despite all his running around. They were the ones who went after warming benches for a while. All that added to the slagging but youi cant pin it on Deaner Junior himself, he just went out to do his best.

I think Hodges can do well for us this season. Yesterday though Deaner and Hodges were making the same run and going for the same ball too may times. Hodges needs service from out wide because he is good in the air. Yesterday if one of the two strikers got a flick it was just going through to the defenders because of both their lack of speed...

Looking forward to Tuesday though to see these new faces. Maybe Barras and Wilko will be back from injury?

As Chris says, both Andy and Ian are too similar in their styles to form an effective partnership. Hopefully the striker playing on Tuesday will be able to form an effective link with either or which could prove as fruitful as the Winston/Boot partnership from last season.

As for Andy, lovely guy as he is, I don't think he's capable enough even at this level. Whilst Martyn remains at the club though, the chances of Andy being in the squad will remain high, unfortunately not on merit.

Dont know anyone who HATES Andrew Deaner. He's a symptom of STFC troubles, not a cause. If somone gave you a nasty disease you might blame them, you might blame yourself for being a prat, but you wouldnt blame the spots or whatever.

Who needs Alan Shearer when we've got Andy Deaner, nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah.

<img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> hi there i agree that andrew deaner is not the best but when he rarely is good he scores acaisonly unsal goals but to be honest they all count. i have had many a pleasent chat with andrew and often over a drink. i think he could be ok for cover we may need him unless things change and players do change. slow unconvincing starts and the bang suddenly the goals flow. i think we should paitent with andrew as he is ok for now. i hope a new strike force works soon it needs too
