Southend Photos now online

The photos from the victory over Southend are now online. A short description of each photo is below each image. Click on each thumbnail to view the bigger image. Some images are quite large, and it may take a short while to load on a dial-up connection.

Pictures are © Ian C. Walmsley / First Images 2003. Please do not copy these images without permission.

Due to the copying of these images last season, I will not be putting the photos up with match reports this season. It was sad to see people ignore 3 copyright warnings on the page, and then publish them without permission or even a credit.

However all pictures will still be available, but I am having to rethink the way I present them.

So please do not copy them, without asking.

Very good pics there. Out of interest what digi cam do you use and how much was it?

As for the game I'd have said a draw would have been fair. Both sides were pretty dire and it wasn't pretty to watch.

I went into the game not bothered about winning or losing. I just want to see our team gel and I'd rather see the mistakes made now than when 9th August rolls round.

Good luck for the season.

Dave

Thanks McScriven....

Just one problem - You've taken one of those photos and put it on Shrimperzone without any credit given to Ian_W <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> I hoped you asked him for permission beforehand then...

Hmmm... no one has requested permission, nor has permission been given to anyone.

Why do people abuse things. bawling.gif

This means that I will have to withdraw photos from the site, earlier than intended - I will not have a new system ready for a few weeks. (Time & funds doesn't allow me)

Sorry to all Canvey fans who will miss the photos.

One picture was posted on the ShrimperZone forum because it was rather amusing. the post has been edited to include a credit to www.canveyfc.com now.

As for the camera what one is it and how much did it cost?

Thanks Dave - my problem has been is that the average photographer can carry £5,000 - £10,000 worth of kit to a non-league game (double this for a big game), needs to have 3 - 10 million pounds in public liability insurance, plus equipment insurance, and this is all before a single shot is taken - this is a sizeable investment, and when these photos are then posted for all to enjoy it is annoying when people abuse that trust, ignore three copyright warnings, and still publish the photos.

Normally they tend to end up in the match day programe - the photographer who has then had their work copied (stolen) is then given little choice but to submit an invoice for that work at £80 - £250 per image, and then to start legal proceedings when payment is not recieved.

What people forget is that may people will often look out for a photographers images, and then report them back, when they spot their mis-use.

All I ask is that people ask. I often agree - but all images must carry the copyright of Ian C. Walmsley / First Images 2003. I will normally allow the photos to be published free when when their use is a in a non-commercial environment.

In any event if images are going into print, I can supply much higher quality images - the ones on the web whilst often large, are low resolution, and un-suitable for print.

By all means use them - and I would love them to be in more places, but a proper procedure has to be taken. If one photo is displayed on another site, without the copyright, what is to stop a third person from copying that image? Afterall that person will presume the image is in the public domain.

As for your question - for this match I used a Canon Digital SLR - with a 120-300 f2.8 lens - shooting at 400ISO and with a sutter speed of around about 1/2000 of a second. Hence the reason why you can see rain drops in some of the images. Hope that helps.
