Bridgwater Town Cut budget

Most fans in the league, and claim to have a low budget and yet have to cut it even more? Something strange is going on there! They have 'Sky' or some version of it too so must be able to open on non-football days.

However i think this is just the start of it as plently of clubs are going to have to cut budgets to follow suit. I'd be well up for a wage cap based on average crowds and Spend per head. Any profit, who's that laughing?, could go into improving the grounds/training areas rather than wages which in the long term is just money down the drain. If you look at our average crowds this season we are about 6th or 7th in the league but of course we have the added help of Bedfont Green Groundsharing and Sough and Wokingham in the past plus the shooting club, model club nights and the pigeon club nights too so the club is in regular use as thats not to mention supporters club/football club events and private partys!

Woody, I am in the strange position of having to agree with you, but this would have to be implemented throughout all leagues at the same level and possibly throughout non league football(possibly up to Conf N/S as conf prem is professionalin places). Otherwise you would get an uneven playing field.

What would make more sense is to have an income based wage cap, if your club is generating income through commercial means (and this is the club generating the income not a benefactor or his business) then that should be included and not just the gate income. All basing teh spend on the crowd would do is lead to silly crowds being reported to justify the spend. The clubs would then have to file books to prove their income (an extra cost) but this would surely make more sense as the cost per player would be based on the financial strength of the club.

I would challenge any club at this level to be able to meet their running costs purely by matchday income, wouldn't it be nice if sky offered FA affilliated clubs hugely discounted skysports channels, or Premier clubs used some of their disgustingly high Sky payments to fund a programme like that. Unfortunately that is as likely as a wage cap.

So what we will get is teams such as Colne Dynamos (remember them, the original cash rich league climbers, no, not surprising as they disappeared as quickly as they appeared) Truro(is it just a matter of time) and the other clubs that will get loads of cash, buy big and then disappear when the man at the top gets bored.

I like Bridgewater, they have good fans, plenty of them and what appears to be a decent social side; they play very good football and going there is always very pleasant win or lose. Such a shame to hear of their troubles.

Well if we do end up in the playoffs (it is possible and the next few weeks will probably decide it) the more teams that are struggling the better, nothing against those clubs just really want us to go up this year!!
