Help Needed

If anyone is available to get to the club as close to 5:30pm tonight as possible help is needed to try and fork numerous puddles in order to get tonight's game on.

Just got back from the ground and match postponed.

 

Checked before I left at 7.25. And now. Still no update on this website, the club website, the Zamaretto website, and there was no answer the several times I phoned the club.

 

Ho hum. I was looking forward to my burger.

I've just arrived back home an hour round trip for me and i like you can't believe there was no mention of the postponement anywhere! i checked before i left and nothing!i had two more possible new recruits tonight but not sure they will come again after this shambles! Surely the pitch didn't get any worse than what it was at say 4 o'clock there was only a couple of showers late on.You've got to feel sorry for the players and supporters of VTFC who made the trip i spoke to a couple outside the ground who weren't impressed.

Doesnt help the ref called it off when he arrived which was apparently not long before you would of set off!!

 

Lets not forget the club is run by people giving up their spare time for little and no reward. I would of posted online if i hadnt already set off and i'm sure someone else who got a text could of done the same.

 

Poor VTFC. Got a monster pile up as it is...

i can tell u that no announcment was not the clubs fault. i was out forking the the pitch since 5.30 this evening and the ref didnt turn up at the ground till 10 to 7and made the final decision till near enough 7 and that didnt go down to well. the pitch was bad but by k.o time maybe 8 the pitch was playable. so no b what more could they have done untill then?

I would have to say from the pictures it doesn't look playable and the ref probably tried to to give it as much chance as possible to be played. Always frustrating when a game is called off but i am sure no-one wanted it off and everything was done to try to get it on.

 

It is likely then that we will go into the Totton game with a game in hand, our players can hopefully get the result Saturday and someone (Gosport or Bridegwater) can do us a favour. But we now have to prove our mettle with a fixture congestion, going to be exciting....

Guys was at club at 1pm and 2pm yesterday,met with a southern league referee at 3-45pm and game was passed to play,we even rang the match official and asked if he could arrive early to discuss any relevant queries,despite a gallant effort by 6 of us the referee arrived at 6-50pm and never made a decision until 7pm,having wasted most of the afternoon myself i was not very impressed by the officials and how late they left it before calling it off !!!

May i thank everyone who managed to get to the ground, although ultimately all of our efforts were not to be rewarded in the end,i did on behalf of the club convey my concerns to the officials on there late appearance,as well as there lack of communication with us ,i appreciate people were trying to ring the club number but we were all on the pitch i am afraid trying to get the game on,i again put the blame on the officials who's phones were turned off,what more can i say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just would like to say well done to all those who tried to get game on! Something must be done by the league to get an official to the ground earlier when there is the danger of a postponement! As far as i can see officials seem to think they are more important than anyone else on and off the pitch!

To pluck a positive from the many negatives about last night's game being off, at least VT will at their freshest to play their next game, against Totton!!! They may also be desperate to get a win having lost top Bracknell and will have to fit us in to a an overcrowded fixture when they will hiopefully be shattered.

 

I know we now have an extra game in a busy schedule but just trying to be positive :-)

 

And when are we going to play them?!?!?!??!

Unfortunately VTFC have the 1st leg of their 2 legged "Red Insure cup final" with Cambridge tomorrow night. I wouldn't put money on them being fresh for Totton.

 

Whoever came up with the concept of playing a 2 legged cup final during the critical final few weeks of the season should be shot....and they wonder why nobody takes the competition seriously!

I kind of suspected that was the case (although it does seem that at 7.25, the last couple of times I called, it was all done qand dusted) - anyway, no hard feelings on may part, even towards the officials who are paid a pittance for doing an often thankless (and inglorious) job.

 

But then I only had to travel 4 miles!

Looking at those photos the pitch was in a far worse state than before the hungerford game and that took us 5 hours, and more people, to get fit and even then it was 'boggy'!

 

Rather than have a go at the ref who turned up late shouldnt the finger be pointed at the first ref at 4pm? With VT coming a fair distance i think it should of been called off then
