I understand that The Bill is to be axed in the autumn after 27 years, ratings have almost halved in the past eight years despite attempts to revamp the show and play around with time slots

I must admit, I stopped watching it a year or so ago.

 

Most of it is/was filmed around Morden in Surrey, and at one time, the famous/infamous Roundshaw Estate, just to the west of Croydon was used.

 

Even an antigue shop in West Street, Dorking was used for some external filming. A two day shoot to produce some two minutes on film. The costs of producing such a programme must be horrendous !
