Rothwell on the brink

Recommended Posts

On the eve of our visit tomorrow, it appears Rothwell are on the brink of going bust. They have reportedly got 7 to 10 days to find a financial backer or they will cease to exist.

The blame for this is put down to a social club that has been badly managed for a number of years.

As it stands, if this were to happen, we would be docked 3 points, bearing in mind they are due to play Sutton Coldfield on Monday.

Good to see that we care so much about another club failing that we're thinking about how it would help us. Bloody hell.

I think you should calm down a bit Matt.

Of course myself or any right minded person would not want Rothwell or any team to go bust.

I was just repeating the facts as they have been reported and the possible consequences to ourselves and Chesham.

Its really sad the way things are going in football..and will be very sad to lose a non league team..I guess we still have to play them tomorrow

hope we dont get to much more rain else the weather might beat us too... remember they played last night on a very muddy pitch !

see what holds for tomorrow... chris s

The FA sends out a list of 'standard rules' to the leagues affiliated to it; these rules cannot be changed except if they involve a fine or points deduction, which are the only things that can be varied. It's No. 12© in the rulebooks of a couple of the local leagues. It says:

'In the event of a team not completing 75% of its fixtues for the season, all points obtained by or recorded against such defaulting teams shall be expunged from the Competition Table.'

Lets hope that they get to play 4 more games :-)
