Well we've just got one more day to go till what I think is the biggest friendly we've got this season.

 

Anyone up for a prediction on the scoreline?

 

I've been on Shrimperzone several times this evening, haven't been received very well on there. <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

 

Usual pathetic comments of inbred, Marsh Rats, pikies etc. You'd think they'd come up with something original wouldn't you? Anyway 'Pikies' I think they ought to think twice before calling us that again...They aren't exactly as minted as CANV are they!?

 

I even tried to be nice - through clenched teeth of course and try to hold a civilised discussion, but to no avail.

 

Oh well my prediciton:

Thurgood and Boylan making it 2-2 with Scotty Forbes coming on as sub with 5 minutes to go beating the entire Southend defence, doing a Cruyff turn against the keeper, falling over his own feet but scoring with his backside. Hey I can dream can't I?

Would be good to get a result out of this one. They don't like us as they haven't achieved anything in years. All they get is bad press while we have received much acclaim. Makes me laugh when their recent managers give a post mortem on a match but always act like there are no problems and they are just turning a corner. Truth is the club has been in decline since Fry left and a short sharp burst of good form each season seems to keep them up. Now Wignall's always commenting about team harmony and what a good squad they have got. Heard it all before so we'll see. Hope we keep it tight at the back.

Well for just that one day I think we should forget about experimenting for the new season and play the full first team for the whole game and go for the win. Southend fans still look down on Canvey and I really hope we can rub their noses in it.

Ive no doubt if the famous cup game of 2000 against them had been played at Park Lane we would have beaten them.

Come on Jeff and Glenn forget about experimenting for one game lets go for the win and show them theres only one team in Essex.

Wish the game was called off that day in 2000 as the weather was a leveller in Southend's favour. Wasn't impressed by them at all except for one player who is now in our squad.

I hate myself for posting this but Im gonna say 2-1 to Southend with Emberson(the worst goalie in Div 3, they need flahavan back) screwing up for the Canvey goal before half time and Boylan will nick the goal. Second half with changes, That new bloke Husbands who is meant to be quite good scoring and assisting Bramble for Southends second.

Our pitch wouldn't have been any worse than their's and on home turf we would've done it!! Forbes's goal was good, but at Park Lane I bet he would've put it into the car-park. In fact if we'd kept him that Pre-season, Southend wouldn't have even made him a Shrimper!!!

 

Even so we lost, I bet the atmosphere in our bar afterwards was better than in theirs and two weeks later they lost to bloody Kingstonian of all teams!!! <img src="/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

What do you expect, Matt?! A kiss on both cheeks and rub down before sunset?! This is local rivalry. Forget the fact that we're Football League and you're Ryman. Anything can happen in 90 minutes. Neither set of fas wants to lose this game, least of all us.

 

Now, get into the spirit of banter or shut up moaning ... you'll have to get used to it if you ever rise into the dizzy heights of Conference and beyond.

How many of you lot do you think will make the crossing and come down to Roots Hall? People here are talking about a 4,000 crowd but I think that's a bit optimistic myself. 2,500 tops.

 

BTW You guys have been allocated the North Stand (the same stand you had in the Cup game) which holds around 3,500 - I think we'll ALL have plenty of room! <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Not looking good so far, but let's hope a sume such as that derby will attract a high attendance as it will make for a better atmosphere and, hopefully, a better game.

If you're looking for a 4000 crowd, I suggest you hope a lot of neutrals are interested in tomorrows fixture.

 

Our attendance against Hull was (apparently) 585 and I reckon about 400 of them were Canvey fans. So we will probably bring that many of there abouts. Hopefully a bit more seeing as it's a Saturday - even if it is pissing it down. As long as we're all together in the North Bank, I reckon we'll make enough noise!

 

Where is The Spread Eagle? i reckon a scoreline aloong the lines of canvey 3-1. I went 2 southen v ipswich and if carl emberson plays like that again nothings gonna stop boylan in front of goal. But i could be wrong as i heard they played well against gillingham the other night.

i think cort had a mare agianst ipswich.. he is probably one of the best defenders in div 3.. if he sorts his form out he will give boylan a tough time.. i am gutted to be missing this one
