Midweek Fixtures & Results 22/23/24/25 March

Division One

2 3 Brache Sparta Community v Stony Stratford Town

A report on this one on Tuesday from another's Forum:

Spartan South Midlands Division 1

Brache Sparta Community 2-3 Stony Stratford Town

Attendance 24

Admission including programme £2

Was tempted by this one after watching the reverse fixture in November when winless Brache were cruelly denied victory by two injury time goals in a thrilling 4-4 draw. So to this game and, at 2-2 entering the 95th minute, Brache concede a free-kick in a dangerous position and the inevitable happened..... Cruel ending again to a good open game played in the right spirit in almost constant drizzle.

The ground has been covered on here before and, while it probably doesn't satisfy the graders, it does the job for Step 6. A couple of nice tongue in cheek comments in the programme too ("Having achieved our first win of the season at Sun Postal Sports and our first away win since Noah landed..."). Overall, I liked this club and again take my hat off to the efforts of the dedicated few behind the scenes who make it all possible.

A report on this one from last night from another's Forum:

Silver Jubilee Park

Kingsbury London Tigers 3 Oxhey Jets 0

Spartan South Midlands League Premier

Following the expected news of a waterlogged pitch at Redbridge I quickly switched to plan B And took a gamble on a dash across to West London, no news about the match so a quick call to the club at 7pm and the news was good Although still raining the pitch was perfectly playable.

Once again the Spartan League produced another fantastic display of football, and the first half was so good I was convinced the Referee had blown his whistle too early for half time

Those present me and 8 other spectators were invited into the VIP area of the clubhouse where a selection of food including Potatoes, Sausages and Sandwiches were offered free of charge unfortunately I had already eaten at the local Wetherspoons establishment but have experienced the delicious fare on a previous visit full credit to the staff for the excellent job they do, it is a shame so few people attend now. The main hall in the clubhouse was being used by some children doing what appeared to be Irish Dancing with appropriate music!

Now back to the game! 2 quick fire goals from the home side at the beginning of the second half, one fierce shot from outside the area took a slight deflection before hitting the net then a Penalty put the Tigers ahead. Further pressure by the Jets and a number of late tackles plus a sending off all added to the entertainment , I don't think the Referee was too popular with the away team and there were some questionable decisions for sure.

Then came the 3rd goal, another fine shot celebrated in style with 3 back flips.

Match finished only a couple of minutes after 9:30pm which is rare these days and a satisfying evening was complete Look forward to next visit!

Admission £5 Programme £1.

Efc - The short answer to that is he simply remonstrated with the Referee over a debatable decision and received his marching orders

Rhodes, it must have been a huge disappointment getting gubbed 0-3 by the mighty Hadley tonight.

Do you think Tonkington would have been better off utilising a more attacking formation with the Three Degrees as the surprise element in midfield? I think their movement could cause any defence a great deal of trouble.....they still frustrate me deeply.

Rhodes, subsequent to our previous discussion regarding the merits or not of having The Three Degrees appear in Tonkington's midfield, it is with regret that I can confirm that this will now be impossible.

Apparently the buxom songstresses who played a big role in Ron Atkinson's magnificent West Bromwich Albion side that managed a creditable 3rd place in the league in the 1978-79 season are now unavailable.

Due to Atkinson's over playing of the 'Philadelphia Sound' trio, Sheila now has knee problems, Valerie is an alcoholic and Fayette is dead.

Sorry for any confusion caused.
