Hmmmmm....I don't see those people who criticsised the manager and players from the "Hull" thread congratulating the team for their win yesterday...

Not really surprised...

Blimey give people a chance, I know your life probably revolves around this forum but some of us have family and can't be on here 24/7. A spendid result, shame I wasn't there to see it. Lets hope we can start a run and climb away from the bottom teams. Once again, sorry Gazza for daring to express an opinion, I will write out a hundred lines of 'I will not disagree with Gazza' and give them to you next Saturday!!

Not at all BL...it takes but a couple of minutes to check a forum and can be done when I have a spare second...

As for expressing an opinion NL...it appears that you have more of a problem with me disagreeing with you...or else you wouldn't mention it. Once again, I have a right as you have to express an opinion...do try to get yourself around that concept, please. I'm sure you're an intelligent person and it wouldn't take too much of a leap (but let me know when you have...like inventing the wheel, the person who did, didn't keep it a secret for long).

For me...I was just wondering if you and others that enjoy knocking the club would like to break the habit and add a little balance to your / their criticism. Just a thought mate, don't take it personally.

By the way, it's a thousand lines...and because I'm an old fashioned, grumpy git, quill and ink and good quality paper, please.... gotcha.gif

Not sure how I have knocked the club? I have supported them for long enough, I never stand on the side moaning at the players, just come and watch when I can (most home games) all I stated in my original post was I didn't think the manager would do anything here, he has, as others have pointed out, had three attemts at changing the squad, releasing some good players and replacing them with one's who are no better and the team is not challenging to get out of the league at the right end, instead its been at the wrong end all season and apart from the odd result you would surely have to admit that it's been an extremely poor season? I have mentioned things that have been talked about that Statham pays some players extra from his own money, it again is only what I have heard, which I said had come from players who have left the club and as I said you can dismiss this should you wish. I will have to go to work now, as I used your advice on 'checking the forum as it only takes a minute' perhaps you could tell me what to write next time so I don't upset you?!!

Here we go...nothing like repeating myself. I'll try to put in a different way.

releasing some good players and replacing them with one's who are no better and the team is not challenging to get out of the league at the right end

(sigh) If players don't want to stay at a club, what is the point of keeping them? I disagree that all of the replacements are no better. Wild, Kersey, Green, to name a few are, in my opinion better players...(look an opinion - I take it you disagree and believe it or not, that is okay...it is your opinion if you do). As regards your last point, I think that even the players would agree that they have underachieved. The issue now is not what has gone before but where we are now. If you want to keep on pointing out faliure, can you expect people to perform? If someone at your work place kept on pointing out your errors of the past, how would you feel (together with "this is what people have told me")?

I have mentioned things that have been talked about that Statham pays some players extra from his own money, it again is only what I have heard

Ahhhh...perhaps you should check before you post a definitive statement (which is how your first post on the "Hull" statement reads as).

which I said had come from players who have left the club and as I said you can dismiss this should you wish

Never dismissed it...I just don't believe everything people say to me, especially ex players who used to be at the club who may have axes to grind. And, if I am told something, I keep it off the forum. Perhaps that is where we both differ.

perhaps you could tell me what to write next time so I don't upset you?!!

You haven't upset me in the least. It takes a better person than yourself to upset me. And post whatever you like. If there is a difference of opinion, then be prepared for come back...that is why we have this forum. Have you (or others) have any post deleted? No, so logically, your opinion stands (as does mine).

A very good result, in heavy conditions, our lads worked hard for the full 90 and got what they deserved.

We were the the better side in the first half with Horsham struggling to cope, second half they gave it a go but we dug in and it was a comfortable win in the end. A dominating display from Nichols, good defending & silky skills from Dan Green, Russell was terrific, challenging all over the park and winning pretty much everything. Defense was solid, attack were a constant threat and midfield dominated.

When we outwork sides more often than not we win

Well done lads :applaus: :applaus: :applaus:

I don't think the effort undertaken in winning this game should be underestimated. The conditions were bad enough to drive through to get and then stand in without trying to play football in them. I have for one have been critical over our constant kick and rush tactics in many games, however we didn't do this on Saturday - which is all the more remarkable given the state of the pitch. I think credit needs to go to all players for giving a display like that. Another positive is that we varied the set pieces - with some good outcomes - please can we keep this. Despite his inconsistancies with yellow cards, some credit does need to go to the officials for allowing that game to be played. We know only too well how many games have been called off on pitches better than that. I'd be surprised if Nicholls' boots weren't full of water from the lake he was standing in for the second half.

Some more positives (we need to be able to talk about these more!!) - the guy from Rushden looked a good left back (distribution needed work - but overall a very good performance). The new 5 once again showed himself to be a good find, and Danny Charge appears to be finding his feet nicely (shame about the injury!). I think Thomas had his best 45 minutes in the first half with his involvement - his challenge leading to Charge's second goal.

Now, we do have to balance some things. Firstly, why did it take BS so long to replace Danny Charge when he was clearly struggling? Continuing to play on a pitch that heavy with a leg injury isn't doing anyone any favours!! Thomas faded too quickly in the 2nd half and became more interested in his socks than anything else!! The referees yellow cards were poorly given, again the mind boggles how he would have coped with a dirty game!

Well done to the travelling support which seemed stronger than some of the recent away trips, especially those 4 brave (silly?) souls who stood behind the goal during the worst of the weather in 2nd half.

We need to focus on Canvey now. We need to be careful - although we seem to be improving - I suspect after Boxing Day there is going to be the feeling they owe us one. Let's not let it happen!

Not wishing to sound negative but I would take a draw at Canvey today...

...but it would be nice if we nicked it!!!

Quality performance across the field with players putting in the effort in truly awful conditions. Much deserved three points.

When you see us play such good football in appalling conditions I find myself asking why couldnt we do this last week? I think performances like this when compared to the likes of the performance against Margate is the reason for such frustration amongst so many of us fans. We clearly have the players this season I dont think I have seen a team that could put us to the sword on our day, our days however are just too few!!

3 points against the caravan dwellers and maybe I will be so impressed that I praise Statham!!
