The game's up CANV

You know I banter, I try to cut the insults. I can't be resposible for wot other 'Ricay supporters put on here but there is no need for all that is there. You wanna sink to a level, then I'll come down and mix it. Now is there any reason for those posts, huh?

I respect the supporter that will stay with his club through thick and thin and I understand the supporter that gets invoved with his club, come the success, what I can't stand is the supporter that pisses around and only gets involved when a team ONLY does well. We have all of those at Billericay (again, NOTE the spelling, you have been told) but I wonder how many U have? Just as many or more. You're support has only increased due to your success in recent years. I wonder if you'll be so cocky when it goes pear shaped and you don't do as well!!! Remember, what goes around, comes around. I value your team and support in the "cut and thrust" of banter and rivalry in the game as well as locality but if you wanna be insulting, so be it!!!

I have been at your ground and wondered where the 200 to 300 extra supporters have come from that have been mentioned over the tannoy, I've read the papers and seen that your support, when you have had a difficult patch (remember your start last season? I do), wasn't anything to boast about. And then when you were doing well, it increased (like it does at every ground around the country). The same applies to us. But one thing, we have had our glory days and our not so good days and no doubt we will have the glory days again but our support has always been constant to a degree since I have been supporting them which is 30 years (man and boy - lol). Can you boast that? No. So shut it!!!

And as for the future, well things do change and my job is to encourage the local people of Billericay to come down and watch a game of football and support their local club. To a lesser or greater degree, I hope I'm successful, like my club, this season.

As for the intelligence of our support, well, I think it is very narrow minded of yourselves (since you wish to BOAST that the lot of you are higher minded people) to tar every 'Ricay supporter to the likes of some of the others that would rather stoop to insults. Sort of puts you on a par with them really.

You make a lot of valid points Gazza, and for once i agree with most of them! as a Canvey fan who has been supporting them since 1995, and following them since 1990, i have witnessed the highs of a trophy win, and the lows of relegation to Ryman 2ND, as have about 150 regular core supporters, the type that turned up at Cheshunt on a freezing tuesday in the Bryco cup 2nd round. We often complain to our own GLORY hunters about the lack of consistent support, as you probably do to yours. Although the point about the so called insults, which are very light hearted and generally a reply to other such banter, if you really think we believe all Billericay residents are stupid then you do us a disservice. All in all, you are our local rivals, and will be subject to extra attention as a result,. This i'm afraid comes with the territory, proof is in the current spat between us and southend on the other posts. In closing, i hope you have a great season as a supporter of your club, as long as i have a better one! See you in August.

Now now Gazza , I noted your post as an early one, I presume you had hit the heavy stuff last night . You above all people should realise that our banter IS light hearted, what we have been saying on this thread is no more than has been implied by your very own supporters. The difference here of course is that we have said it on our own forum. That is not the case with most of yours who regularly come on here.

I must say you are getting very prickly in your OLD AGE Gazza.

If you come on here and have a go, you must learn to avoid the returning flack.

Nothing really nasty meant Gazza - have a good season and I hope you achieve your own aims as long as it doesnt spoil ours..

I think I woz just getting prickly about being asked to change my loyalty. Nice to be wanted and thought of as a worthy rival (worthy enough to be asked) but no thanks. I wouldn't of asked CANV to change his loyalty to Billericay (even though he was brought up here), even in a light hearted way. Life is just too much fun with the Ol' enemy where he is!!! - lol

Oh, can I just make this observeation? 1 nil, smashed...I don't think so. How about Beat The Shrimpers? That more like it or did you run 'em ragged but couldn't finish? Just asking? I'll read the report in the NL News with my coffee later and comment.

Do make you right Gazza about the pre seasons but there does seem to be that bit extra sparkle in the team compared to the start of last season when I think the players were still hungover from the Stimmo and co fiasco. Whats your feelings about your lot at the Moment?

thats the most boring thread I've ever had to review.....even I couldn't post that much drivel....

anyway...you two had better get yourself sorted out...its us you need to worry about...not each other...

by the way...we've taken on Richard Mann and MIM as our PR managers...they likely to be doing most of the forum work this term...

are they the same person...??

there's a thought...

Uncle, would you prefer that we slag each other off all the time...Well some might but I don't. I would extend you the same coutesy if your lot wouldn't "mug" the forums with worthless drivel about how well you're gonna do. Remember Canvey and Billericay have been in this league longer than U have so don't presume to walk away with the spoils yet.

Pilgrim - At the moment we're just going through the re building stage, looking at players and getting a feel for the style which matches our new managers "wants". Got some good players there that may surprise you come the Season's start. Gary Ansell is still with us we are hoping he can double his tally against you when we next meet (lol). I'm hopeful for the season but it is early days and the friendlies are there to "bed" the players in and get used to each other.

There is a different attitude down at New Lodge at the mo. We're really looking forward to the new season and are a lot more positive about things since Justin has come on board. He is very much into building up the youth side for the future of the club (something I said should've been done years ago what with the players wages etc., etc.). So here's hoping. I think we may well surprise a few people

As you quite probably have gathered I go to the friendlies to watch a game of football and as much as they can be competitive (like yours against Southend - I've read the report and it does indeed read as if Canvey had a point to prove) it is a different game all together when the league starts. I enjoy 'em but can't wait for the cut and thrust of a real competition, where it matters. So as far as the results well, of course, I like to see Billericay win every one but if we didn't then whatever contributed to the defeat, we can put right without losing any ground in the league.

Gazza I noticed on your forum that Andy Jones scored for you in the Waltham Forest friendly. How has he been since joining you?

Matt, he has done well, I like him and so do some of the other supporters but on the whole it is a bit hard to say. Waltham Forest tested us a bit yesterday but again (with the risk of being boring) these are pre season friendlies and I'm sure Justin will switch the team around on Tuesday and next Saturday to see what works and what doesn't. Fine tuning, if ya like. On the whole, a good player, I'm immpressed, we'll see how he does when the season starts.
