Bethnal Green Utd are in the final

Recommended Posts

I dont see how its harsh, how can u get a game called off at 10pm on a friday saying u have illnesses and then u have 16 for tuesday.

Southend manor are a nice club that everyone likes, but if Mauritius or APSA or a Beaumont side of a few years ago had done the same everyone would go about them being sunday and they shouldnt be playing at this level.

I am pleased for them.. but was just questioning as to what the rules are in said situation. Very grey area methinks - hard to prove/disprove.

Well,it happened to us 2 years ago in the League Cup group game away to Barking on a Tuesday night and we got fined £ 250 for failing to fulfil a fixture.Having said that we had 16 players available on a Monday night and within hours everybody dropped out either ill , injured or working late.Personally I think the fine is a big enough punishment and the game should be played but it's only an opinion. :coffee (2):

Whilst we had 16 named Tuesday one of them was the manager, 2 of them havent played this season due to injury and were

only there as an absolute emergency thanks to pain killing injections and 2 of them were no shows due to illness!

Hence why no subs were made until the very last minute to get someone an appearance!!

Well done gaffa and anton , and bgu in general, i hope you go on and win it now.

Unfortunate for S Manor as you dont get many chances to play in a cup final .

I come from Bethnal Green so I'm absolutely chuffed for BGU, Justin, Kirk et al. I just think it's harsh that Southend Manor were bombed when they lost a lot of players through illness.

Last Friday night my son went to bed feeling fine, but woke up Saturday morning sick as a dog and puking up everywhere and had to spend most of the day in bed. By Sunday lunchtime he was pretty much back to normal again. These bugs/viruses come out of nowhere and go again just as quick.

Best of luck to BGU in the final.

I'm led to believe that this was put to the committee relating to our clubs position:

47 players signed for Southend Manor

18 players not eligible due to not playing 2 games ( mainly under 18's )

2 suspended

1 short term injury

4 long term injury

4 dual signed ( 2 for higher level and 2 which left for lower level football)

2 cup tied

3 holiday ( proof could be provided )

left us with 13 to choose from of which 6 fell ill between thursday and Friday night...leaving only 7

The reason we have been removed from the cup was on 2 grounds:

(1) That, on 26th January having beaten Basildon and progressed to the semi final, we should have paid due regard

in the following six games before the semi final to the Rule whereby a player needs to have made at least two appearances

in the Squad to be eleigible for the semi final and at least come on to the field even as a substitute.

(2) That of our four double signed players we should have deregistered at least those two whose new allegiances were

now with their other (lower level) club.

Unfortuanetly in the 6 games we played in between the qtr and semi final the managers chose what they believed to be their

strongest squads so in turn did not select u18's to enable us to have plenty of players available with regards to the 2 game rule.

They never imagined with the amount of players at their disposal that the scenario which we faced Saturday would arise.

All of us at the club are very disappointed in the outcome and obviously embarrased at not being able to field a side for the

original date of the semi final but we would like to wish Bethnal Green ( and of course Takeley ) the very best of luck in the Final.

Thanks onebreast and i would of rather played the semi-final then going through like this but this is just my opinion i would of try to play the game with sick player or 8 players then not turn up and hope the league bail you out, this is senior football mate rules are rules its not are rules just feel like we are being blamed for this, this is are first season at this level and we have to play 4 games a week, and finding it very tough, but its welcome to senior football.

and Triggs is very close to many people @ Bethnal and if he ever wanted to come on board he will be welcomed with open arms top bloke who did a great job @ Eaton Manor

I can see your point Justin , my sunday team once had to play with 8 men for the 90 minutes , and we still won ! Its unfortunate , but no one will remember it by the time the final is played.

Triggs good banter you complete cuntox ( crfcboss TM) , pot and kettle ??? why , have i got a chip on my shoulder ?? cos if i did then id notice it and eat it ! and dont diss Burnham burgers , they became part of my life for a year.

Bit different mate, I will post this and then stay out of the conversation. I am watching from afar and just feel the need to put to bed a few points that have become lost in translation.

Last weekend I personally (Club Captain of Southend Manor) was ill and I missed Tuesday nights game aswell as three days off work. That is a FACT and nothing to do with being Sunday League, Premier League of the Prime Minister!!!

Of the 47 players Manor have had signed on this season, as with most clubs at our level.....dozens of players come and go!!

Up until results of the past 2/3 weeks, Manor were still within touching distance of the top 6 or maybe even matching last seasons cracking top 4 finish, admitedley with a decent string of results. Therefore Manor are in the unfortunate position where the could not blood any u/18 players with cameo appearances or give squad players game time just to hit the magical "Two Appearances" that was needed for a semi final performance in this cup.

Basically, on the Friday lunchtime we had 7 players definatley fit and well for Saturdays match. You would expect us to play with that? 6 Players were ill, few injruies and several fringe players and u/18 players registered (As pointed out by the league) had never made the neseceery two appearances to qualify for Saturday.

Of the Current threadbare Manor squad (No subs recently away to Enfield) we have three maybe four players who are also actually cup tied.

We tried contacting players who have left for a lesser level but they had other commitments, some players are de-registered and some were injured!!

As a small club with no reserves and trying to keep a squad of 18 players happy, it very hard when your not paying out players!!

Comments on Manor having 16 players tuesday if laughable. Of that 16 named, two were named but did not show as they were still ill. One further sub was actually our manager who hasn't played this level for years, one had a cortisone injection on a groin problem the friday before and just made up numbers. The final sub actually played 2 minutes at the end so he qualified for the magical "Second appearance" should the semi final be replayed.

Also, whilst I am justifying our club on tuesday night....of the XI that started tuesday, two were carrying knocks and practically begged to come off during the match.

There you go....rant over. I wont comment on rules and decisions of this commitee, because there are things certain other clubs do (Like hospitalising players regularly and spitting at opponents) that I think warrant punishment too. But thats politics and not football.

Anyways, enjoy your Cup Final, enjoy and savour the experience of the day. Good luck to both clubs.

My parting shot is towards the ESL commitee, they let lots go on and then punish a club with genuine reasons who are never themselves in trouble. The troublesome clubs tend to get away with near murder. If the League dont like them comments, then see you at Soho Square

Up the Manor
