I can't believe there hasn't been more activity on this thread today taking into account all the mouth watering fixtures this evening, Chelsea v Inter Milan pales into insignificance compared to Royston Town v Aylesbury

Yes

That's an interesting answer and says a lot, thanks, the next thing we know Kentish Town will be playing at Silver Jubilee Park again as was the case last season

No

Well I find that a strange answer, I'll wager that Kentish Town play at Silver Jubilee Park before the end of the campaign

Tuesday 16 March

Premier Division

Hertford Town v Welwyn Garden City

Decent report on tonights fixture......good to see Hertford back to winning ways.

A spirited but inexperienced WGC side could have led in the first minute, when a forward blazed wide when clean through, but gradually the Blues settled, in no small measure due to the presence of back again centre half Glenn Draper, and to the return from over a year out with a knee injury by influential midfielder Dave Hunt. WGC held out until almost half time but a period of sustained pressure by the home side eventually led to DOMINIC MUSAFIRI prodding home from close range. This opener was quickly followed by no.2 when KEVIN COOPER lobbed keeper Jessop.

A nasty injury to Jason Coughlan gave new boy Tom Bowgett the chance to impress, and he certainly did. Younger brother of former Blue Danny Bowgett and son of ex-pro Paul Bowgett, the sub proceeded to run the game and it was one of his surging runs which led to Hertford's third, when he won a penalty, converted by KEVIN COOPER. Bowgett was everywhere and it was difficult to spot where he was actually playing!

Popular super-sub ANDY CHAPMAN weighed in with the fourth from a pass by the third sub, ex manager Pablo Ardiles.

Rhodes, thanks for posting those reports, very interesting I'm sure....even though I didn't read any of them.

It's got me thinking though.......Why don't you see big hairy caterpillers, dead baby birds that have fallen from the nest and white dog sh1t in the streets anymore. Is this due to a better standard of street cleaning or can we put it down to global warming?

Sorry, I forgot....Harefield 2, Biggleswade Utd 0

Broxbourne Boro 2 Aston Clinton 0

Spirited and comitted performance from the Divison Two side who were the better team in the first half. Gradually Boro got back into the game in the second half and took the game 2-0. First goal was very lucky as the Aston keeper spilled the ball to the Boro player to knock into the net. The cold end was very impressed with Aston forward Aaron Usmani.

Division One

0 2 Brache Sparta Community v Bedford Town Reserves

Attendance 32

A comprehensive report on this one from another's Forum:

Thursday 18 March 2010:

Brache Sparta Community FC 0-2 Bedford Town Reserves:

SSML Div 1;

att: 32; Entry: free; programme issued.

I’d somehow been “saving” this one, put off by reports of miserable evenings at a bleak ground attracting single figure crowds. Actually, it isn’t that bad a set-up at all and I feel I had been mis-led. The Foxdell Recreation Ground lies in a faceless Luton suburb, squeezed between a school and a busy road. It is a good 30 minute walk from Leagrave railway station through rather uninspiring suburbia in which we passed just one pub and a sub-standard fish and chip shop.

The ground is rather basic, but has more facilities than I had been led to believe. The pitch lies on a spacious field and is fully surrounded by a mesh fence and a narrow concrete walkway. Set well back behind the south goal is a small clubhouse and dressing room block. This has a decent overhang at the front, covering an area of flat standing and a long, single, wooden bench. Despite being a good 25 yards from the nearest touchline, we spent most of the game watching from here – only advancing to the rail during a brief lull in the relentless drizzle. I’ve put a couple of photos of the ground at the end of this post.

Brache prop up the league and are in real danger of relegation as there are a couple of floodlit clubs well-placed for promotion from the second division. But their quest for survival points was fruitless in this game, which the Bedford reserves dominated from start to finish and should have won more comfortably. A scrappy game with little quality, but at least played with a decent attitude; few fouls and not the swear-fest that games in this league can descend into. Adequate entertainment for the small crowd, a good half of whom were supporting the away side. My headcount of 24 is much closer to reality than the official attendance of 32.

No gate was taken and by half time I had concluded that no programme had been issued. So I was surprised to see a few crumpled and damp bits of paperwork extracted from pockets in the clubhouse at half-time, and my mate soon spotted a small pile behind the bar. The lady was a little reluctant to sell me one. “It’s months out-of-date”, “Not good value at all”. I persevered. Correct – poor value at £2, which I guess normally covers entry as well – printed for the scheduled fixture in January with the club’s previous match having taken place in mid-December. Nevertheless, I like to have these things. So far as refreshments go, there was a licensed bar, with tea and coffee also available.
