although we lost to biggleswade today it was not a total loss as burnham lost to sudbury 2-1, sutton coldfield town beat chesham 2-1, hitchen beat stourport swifts 2-1 unfortunately bury beat beaconsfield 2-1 . so we have not lost touch with the group around us but have missed a chance in closing up the gap on those above us

Yeah, but Sutton Coldfield beat Chesham, which is an absolutely massive result. If they win their games in hand, we could be in trouble. We should probably forget everything above fourth place now.

Matt is right, with a performance as bad as todays 4th would be the best we could hold on for.

 

Other than the first 15 mins where we were on top, the rest of the game got slowly worse.

 

The positives were that the two new boys fitted in well and made a good contribution and Perks had a better game then of late.

 

However, Batemans habit of playing his favorites backfired again.

 

The substitution on Tuesday of removing Clarke and Martin and bringing on Sonner and Buchanan worked wonders, but today he tried it and the game continued to slip further from Sloughs grasp.

 

After the subsitution Slough had two good chances on goal and a certain player missed them both (not allowed to critisise players on this forum as some people think I am biased against gininger haired players)

 

It is so depressing going to some of these grounds where we outnumber the home fans 3 to 1 and most of them are relatives of the players.

Sutton Coldfield beating Chesham is a bad result for us. I think history tells us there is normally one team that comes with a run at the end of the season and that team looks like it could be Sutton Coldfield.

as you know RR i have at no time this season advocated that we would be winning the league, though you would have the advantage of knowing sloughs performance first hand today.and as we have seen already our teams performances have been shall we say a little irregular to say the least of recent, but although there is always a team that makes a late run i am happy to see that most of the teams around us are not taking advantage of our misfortunes, which give us more of a chance to stay in the play off positions , anyway who is to say that we will not be the team to come with a late run?
