... are virtually guaranteed the BSS title tonight if they beat Bishop's Stortford. They are 1-0 up at the moment 8.50pm, and a win will still leave them needing a point to be absolutely sure of promotion.

But with a goal difference that is 47 better than anything else in the league, one can safely say that they are back in the BSP after 21 years.

Game was delayed for 15 minutes so must be a hell of a crowd there this evening.

 

UPDATE: They won 1-0 with 3,084 turning out.. first champions of the season...

Good crowd,i wonder how many will carry on into the conference,my guess is they will average 2000-2300 but possibly more,all depends on how they do.

It will probably settle down to around 1,500 average.. at least they should last the season in Conference National, as opposed to 1988-9

I can remember the day Newport County went out of Business Coup . They were due to play Enfield at Somerton park , The Enfield players Coach turned up there and the place was spookily locked up . Some supporters were even arriving from both clubs , (These were the days before mobile phones ) , One embarrassed official turned up and said the club had closed that morning .

 

But pleased to see that they are back , Good luck to them.

Coup - You have to give Dean Holdsworth huge credit for securing Takumi Ake's services from Team Bath at the start of the season and I can see Newport taking the Conference by storm next season

It's hardly surprising to see Newport County sixth in the Conference with three wins from three games at home and just two narrow defeats away from the Newport Stadium
