Wouldn't it be nice if we

could get those turnstiles revolving more than they have had to in recent years. Come on lets build the blue army up in size. I seem to remember Steve Kent saying that he wanted attendance figures of 700 this season. Are we going to deny him his wish?

Hopefully an entertaining game tommorrow and 3 points would be even better to cap off our best week of the season by a million miles so far.

Well i was actually thinking of suggesting a big sign at the top of Blunts Wall Road, which states our next game, where it is, who its against and admission prices for the games. Could even advertise travel information e.g. coach prices for the away games.

It would make that grassy corner on the road far more appealing!

Good post upda and Town Crier. It is the turning up that is important. Gazza I know that you put heart and soul into Billericay but don't have a go at people who show some enthusiasm even if all they do is pay their money through the turnstile. Without that there would be no wages for the players.

I think upda has a good point , there is very lilttle advertising on match day, a sign at the top of Blunts Wall Road would possibly help bring a few more in.

Lets all cheer for 3 points Saturday to take us clear of the drop zone

The BTSA recently invesitigated getting a banner on the railings at the roundabout at Sun Corner on match days. You would think that would be quite doable and reasonable, but I understand it was knocked back by the town/council elders.

I suppose you can take the view that BTFC is a limited company, and why should one limited company be allowed free advertising in a town, when another (say a shop) isn't - but it still seems a bit piss poor to me that the district's senior football club (with football being our national game) is given no support at all from the powers that be.

Maybe we should all write a letter to the council?

Maybe we should all write a letter to the council?

Not a bad idea really, But would we need the blessing of the club before we could write on it's behalf?

I spoke with one of the senior supporters of BTFC whose Grandson currently plays for the Blues and he was telling me that back in the day every other shop in the high street had a poster promoting the clubs next home game.

Could we do that again? in colour smilewinkgrin.gif

It's funny how people read into things isn't it. I saw nothing wrong with either Upda's idea's and or his enthusiasm or Gazza'a question to him.

Let's leave the bickering to Aveley & Margatestone. smashfreakb.gif

The powers that be often stop you doing what is sensible. All we really need is for the supporters of Billericay to just turn up. We are on a winning streak and will turn over Margate so pay your money through the gate and see us get clear of the relegation zone. Our chairman Steve Kent ( ably supported by his wife Sharon) puts so much into this club, so PLEASE support it with your enthusiasm and any financial support you can. If you pay admission to the ground then great but if you don't contribute financialy then please don't bother to post because we are not interested. You have to support your club by visiting and paying to watch !!!!

Point is i am not even sure how many people in Billericay know that we even have a football team of this level. I am pretty sure that most people won't know that we actually play in a stadium.

I will think of some ideas and post them to you to see what you think, however weird and wacky they may be you never know they could just have the desired effect.

What?

I would be a lot more enthused if you came up and said "hey, I've designed a flyer, what about getting it printed and getting some supporters one Sunday walking around the Town and doing a mail shot". Hell, I'll even print it myself and help deliver it but too many people (including yourself) think the forum is the be all and end all of promotion for the club. It isn't!!!

Ya know what, if you did that Upda, I would possibly even be given such a boost, my enthusiasm would rise to 2006 / 2007 levels and do even more for the club.

I can see from your posts you're concerned about the attendences. We all are but the supporters can't just be concerned and do nothing (apart from stating the bloody obvious on this forum).

And I do not subscribe to the thought (in this instance) that people won't want to do anything because this season hasn't been good. If you're all concerned about the club and it's attendence and it's future then rip the internet umbilical cord off, get on your feet and do something about it!!! You'll have my support and possibly quite a few other as well (and by support Upda, I mean physically...getting up and actually physically helping).

As for the board idea...it's been discussed and when we get a council that supports us, it'll run into trouble every time. But how about all of us writing to the council and putting the point across? How about organising a petition? Get up, get out and do something.

Of course, this comes down to whether you think this club is yours or not.

An aside from the hysteria:-

I walked to the game on Saturday from the High Street, wearing my Billericay Town scarf (and yes, I did have other clothes on too). I was approached twice, by a builder outside the Railway and by a drinker outside Stewarts, "Are Billericay at home today? who are they playing?" I relayed the information and asked if they were coming along, the builder was more positive.

See, thats all you've got to do, walk up and down the High Street on Match Day. ;)
