Better in the Cup!

Dunno about reaching the final but think that the top four winners are Ilford, Walthamstow Ave, Leyton and Grays unless we consider Dagenham/ Dagenham and Redbridge together in which case they edge Grays.

But I could be wrong.

Longest period of wins is Clapton who first won it in 1891 and last time was 1984 but Chelmsford did it in 1893 and last time 2009 but were they the same team?.

Sorry, that should have read Chelmsford won it in 1891 and Chelmsford City in 2009 and the former became the latter in 1938 when they went professional

I don't think Colchester United would have played in the ESC until 74-5 season, when Amateurism was abolished.

Before that it was the Essex Professional Cup, which usually comprised of Romford, Chelmsford, Southend, Clacton and Colchester.

Although West Ham and Leyton Orient did appear in the competition regularly up to the end of the 50s/early 60s in the O's case.

Up until recent years, when they seem to have taken the competition a bit more seriously, they often used to bow out mid-season.

But fair play to them now and it was good last season to see them host us, Aveley and your lot at the new stadium.

I thought Colchester made us very welcome and apart from the result it was a great night.

Orient competed in the Essex Senior Cup up until the late 1990s I think. Have a feeling Canvey beat them in the final one year.

they made us welcome too, especially in their boardroom

saying that, when we played them there was probably no more than 200 home fans, would of thought they may bring 3-400 down to the final,we could of course stoke it up a bit on their forum lol

Not sure if stoking it up works, I tried it for the Concord game and only 88 turned up. Real shame because it really was a great match, even better than I said it would be.
