Seeds goal

Chennels winner

Windsor fans celebrate

Wow, that was tense. Right score in the end, I think - Gosport were another team determined not to let a ball go free, in our faces the whole time, and they were challenging for everything and passing well. Indeed one of their fans was behind us phoning back after their goal, and the conversation I heard went roughly

"Yeah, one-all in the 53rd minute", "Davis","that's right, penalty", "good game, actually it's the best we've played in seven or eight matches" which says it all.

Worst ref I've seen since Alison Chapman at Uxbridge (I think it was) - when she sent Chenns off, of all people, and then asked the home team which of them had fouled in the area. Soft penalty, calling players back for dissent over his crap decisions, not penalising the genuine fouls - e.g. charging Rob after he'd caught the ball and leaving him doubled-up in pain for 2 minutes, not even a word of 'be careful' or similar...

Wasn't the biggest and most spontaneous celebration when the ref finally awarded a free kick to us? (IIRC for a neck-high tackle on Rico that would have merited at least a yellow card in rugby football, never mind association...)

But we deserved to win. As usual we wasted a few shots, and both Chenns and Jake seemed to pass up a few chances to shoot in favour of the perfect pass in (which never worked), but at the end of it Rob had barely been troubled outside a few corners while their stiltwalker in goal had saved their bacon at least three times with some cracking saves. 92nd-minute made it all wildly tense but it was worth it, we never stopped trying and everyone knew how much it mattered.

...Chennels winner

...

and looking at that again, on about 21-23 seconds in... maybe Rico can claim the goal after all? It's nearly all over the line and it's a really tough call as to whether it's all through...

Good filmwork!

Excellent stuff Film. My son got both goals from behind the goal so will post those up tomorrow. (Bit fuzzier than yours though!)

Rico came into the bar after the game and said it was Chenns' goal. But he added that when he was a boy he would certainly have been claiming it! I was right behind the goal and was certain it hadn't quite crossed the line.

Deja vu anyone?!

Had a word or 2 with a couple of Gosport players and although they were gutted there is a collective desire to see us beat Totton to the championship, so they wish us well.

Thought it would have been an own goal had it gone in. Correct me if im wrong but Rico wasnt near the ball when it went in. On the match front Nathan Jack delivery was what we needed all game. I would have brought him on earlier. Not that im telling the colonel what to do likesmashfreakb.gif

kept replaying and pausing on the video, and i think it didnt cross the line.

Don't care, 3 points all that matters. Thought we played averagely well against a team that came to play and win. In the second half we only got going with 15 mins left and it was just about enough.

I though the pitch played a large part, the keeper slipping the first half and poor control from Jake and Chenns at times led me to believe that maybe the ball was not running well and the pitch very hard.

But it is these games we drew or lost last year and sometimes you just have to win ugly, which we did.

Well done lads for not giving up and giving it your all, good substitutions that ultimately got us the win.

Videos are superb, Seeds goal was very brave, with a keeper that big bearing down on you that could have been pretty nasty. As for the second, own gola or Chenns surely, and as the ref would not have given the goal before Chenns got there it is clearly Chenns goal (you try and take it off of him!!)

10 games left, getting closer, just keep believing....

Although the pitch looked decent from the stands if you look at the video's the ball is bobbling all over the place and holding up, I think that is why there was a few occasions when players would have usually had a shot but the ball just held up at the vital moment. To their credit both teams still seemed to be trying to knock the ball about.

The Ref was poor, although I thought we bore the brunt of his bad decisions he was poor both ways. He seemed to be the sort of ref who would make a decision, the penalised team would moan about it so he would then give the next decision the other way and so on. It became easy to work out who was going to be awarded a free kick simply by knowing whose turn it was.

I actually thought we played quite well; we're not going to score four goals or dominate teams like we did against Yate every game. Their keeper made some good saves and their no6 seemed to have a good game. In the end it was a case of hanging on in there and believing the goal would come. The one thing teams know against Windsor is they have to play well for the whole 90 mins to get anything; you can't play well for only 70 or 80 mins and expect to get a result as we seem to play at full tilt the whole game. I don't think in whole time I've been watching Windsor I've ever seen a team at out level with such high fitness levels.

Again some great substitutions by the Colonel, he's like a good poker player, while every around him is losing their heads he keeps calm and waits for optimum moment before playing his hand. The 2nd goal owed a lot to the 2 subs with Rico's presence and Jack's well driven cross setting up the goal.

Anyway another game another win. Only ten games to go and I reckon 4 more wins should just about be enough.

Interesting you say about the keeper, I feel we have come up against some very good goalkeepers this season, better than last year I would say. the keeper last night was good and it was going to take a very good goal or a mistake to score and we got both in my opinion.

I agree we are not going to win every game 4 or 5 nil, or even win every game. I thought we had patches where we looked ordinary, but that is down to the standard that Scotty and the team have set and the expectations we have from some very good players and an excellent team (basically they only havethemselves to blame!!!). but that is probably taking away from Gosport who played well and could have come away feeling robbed, but that is what championship winning sides do, they rob you when you think it is a done deal and just move on.well, i reckon hardest game of our run in Saturday, lots of stamina and resolve required and a draw would not be a bad result

Unless rico has a 6 foot long foot he didnt get a touch on that winner! Would of been an own goal but i think the keeper did keep it out!

Gosport were not as good last night compared to their home game but still had abit about them. Seemed more like a side scraping at the bottom however as they gave the ball away or kicked it out so many times!!

Good to see Seeds getting back in the goals at the moment. We need our midfield to chip in as we cant aways leave it to our fantastic strike force! I hope the club makes the league aware it was chenns goal and adds it to his tally.106 now isnt it?!

Quite right, on more reviewing that would have been as fine a tapped-in own goal as you could ever wish... lucky we didn't need to claim it as a back-pass ;) I had been concentrating on where it finished, not who played it as I'd thought at the match itself that Rico had scrambled in the original shot before Chenns' finish.

It's great to have the chance to re-watch moments from games as most the time somebody misses them! One chap behind the goal missed Coynes 30 yard wonder goal vs Slough. Still kicking himself now i bet!

Also is it me but in the plane going overhead for the first goal sounds really strange!? Sounds like it's about to bloody crash! Myself and Darren P saw another plan have to make an aborted landing on the way home too!

Imagine Bruce's free kick...but right into the top corner and your not far off. Was stood directly in line with it and things seemed to stop for a second before it went in. Sheer pefection and to do it against a former conference club dont you know....well!
