Ryman?

On the observer site it says we've applied to be in the ryman next year. Is this a just in case application or is the club trying to move into the Ryman? At prem level i'd prefer to be in the Ryman over the Southern.

I think both leagues have their positives and negatives. The main point is the amount of travelling in the Southern league with 6 or 7 teams around the Birmingham area as well as trips to Cambridge, Merthyr, Worcester and most of all Truro! I think the club could be looking at this and thinking of the cost. Most of the Ryman Premier are around the London area apart from a couple in Kent and a couple on the South coast. Which ever league they go into it would be nice to think we could push on and get into the Blue Square South as there are a few clubs fairly local to Windsor in the higher league!

I would like us to go in the Southern league for a visit to new grounds and so we don't have to go round the M25 all the time. We have good attendence at away games so I don't see it being a problem.

On the other hand I would not like the club to cripple themselves through travel expenses.

From a selfish point of view i didn't enjoy travelling to the Ryman clubs as much as the Southern league clubs and i found the clubs in general a lot nicer places to visit in the Southern League. however from an objective point of view we may get larger crowds in the Ryman, especially on a midweek game(as they are closer); also travelling costs may be lower so financially we may be better off.

The Southern League always used to have more of a reputation of being more physical and less about silky skills football, so maybe our style might be more dangerous in the Ryman. Although this is of course conjecture and not fact.

Either way if we win the league i don't really care. I'll be there next year come what may, but Essex on a Tuesday night is much worse to get to than Somerset or Hampshire in my opinion. Avoid the M25 and I'm happy :-)

On the plus side for my regular car passengers I'll probably always come back through Windsor for the Ryman league so I'm sure that will get a few thumbs up!!

The two most local sides in eiher league at the momet are farnborough in the southern and Ashford in the ryman.Farnborough have 2200 miles to travel and Ashford 1000. Can see why we want to move but dont think it will happen seeing as wealdstone are likely to move into the southern so they'd move ahead of us!

In the southern league teams travel over twice as much as in the ryman and that will stop away fans turning out in numbers. However we are a new club to many of those sides so perhaps they'll come in numbers?

Financially it would make sense to move as the travelling costs in the Ryman would be considerably less. However the actual journey times won't be too different particularly midweek. Driving to places like Tooting midweek is about as much fun as stabbing yourself in the eyes with a pen. Anywhere that involves more than a couple of junctions on the m25 is head butt your steering wheel time!

Anyway its a nice problem to have but there is a long way to go before we can start worrying about what league we want to be in next season.

So, now can we worry about what league we're likely to be in? It's all gone quiet on this front, are we waiting for yet another FA restructuring? Or since the Isthmian would apparently welcome us back, are we just waiting for the nod from the Southern League?

Do you really think the Southern league will allow a champion to move to the Ryman? Plus who in the Ryman would be moved over to the southern? Doesnt make sense! Wishful thinking.

The club cannot really afford the huge travelling costs next season plus a VERY high wage bill for the crowds we get. Quite why the club has been trying to get promoted with the lack of money coming into the club is in my view crazy. It's well known Peter would welcome someone taking the club off his hands if it was the right deal for the club but what exactly is in it for someone to do so? A clubhouse that's years past its sell by date and a small, but growing, commerical set up. You will not find many people willing to chuck money at us in our postion.

glad to see you back Woody alias Ryan taylor, thought you had gone for good !!

Suspect the league may wait and wait and then tell you that is OK to start late or play whenever in whatever league !! if their past record is anything to go by smilewinkgrin.gif
