Cliff would be my super sub, bring him on after 60 mins if not much is working upfront. Jones can stay on the bench, when he's on the field he doesn't look confident on the ball, and he doesn't pass or shoot until it's too late.

Disagree with you there Stuy, Jones is clearly confident on the ball he just doesn't (as you say) release it early enough. Also i am lead to believe Grant is actually a left-sided player not a right sided one. I think we should start with the same team we started against Waltham, but just kick 'em all right up the [****!!****]

As a holder of a UEFA Pro Licence I havent seen many formations that have a sweeper behind three defenders !!! But each to their own I suppose.

I presume thats supposed to impress! Sorry to dissappoint you!

As a member of the frustrated Margate FC supporters on the terraces ANYTHING is worth a crack right now & with my way of thinking Lacey & Cliff will be back & forth as and when required. Keister should be able to clear up anything loose at the back.He will have more time & less bodies in front of him to anticipate & deal with any errors or long balls over the top.

Like it or not, seen it or not thats my opinion & I seriously think it could work. It certainly couldnt makes things worse.

Up front

Blackman lately is way out of sorts up front & hasn't really contributed anything (I notice his neck problem every few minutes).

Saunders up front could do wonders for us.He's done it before & been very successful. At least he can out jump defenders & head a ball not to mention him being able to lay the ball off for Pinns to finish.

Hey its not going to happen my way in reality but it was my personal opinion like it or not.

As I say, anythings worth a try right now..

As I said Cookie each to their own Im not knocking your opinions just cant see it working . You say Keister should play as a sweeper as he will have more time and less bodies in front of him ?? A sweeper is usually the last line of defence therefore should have everyone in front of him.Personally id rather have Keister in front of the back four. You are right when you say things cant get much worse though (at least we hope and pray they cant). I still firmly believe we need a commanding centre back and a striker to play alongside Blackman, I love Pinnock for what he's done for us in the past but cant see him as the answer to our current predicament. For what its worth my line up would be.

Oh god, just seen my post. Obviously we arent playing that narrow, my page layout needs some attention . Basically its a 4-3-3 formation with the full backs being used to give us width when attacking (as they usually try and do) but with the added safety of Keister in front of the back four. This system although slightly narrow in midfield when defending relies on lateral movement from the midfield triangle (Keister, Barnes and Saunders) when the opponents have the ball in wide positions. Left full back may be a problem tonight but I think Stubbs' energy can get him up and down the pitch when needed.

Im well aware of what a sweepers role is & where he is positioned Franny.I dont think Ive said any different to what you have just said. I think you miss my pioint. When I say less bodies in front of him I'm talking in terms of just the 3 in defence immediately in front of him rather than 4 or even 5. With a 5 man midfield including Lacey & Cliffe working their socks off hopefully up & down down those flanks we should be able to keep the ball midfield at worst & most definately should be able to retrieve the ball first once having been cleared out by their defence.(Mind you the players DO need to attack the ball, position themselves better, have better ball control & find their own players with more precision passing) than of late).

We need to be on the front foot tonight & negate any raids towards our goal from the opposition.Contain them in midfield if possible & crack on from there.

Hey, you may well be right & that my way might not succeed but its worth a shot i.m.o & in my eyes makes sense to have a go with such a formation.

As I've said previously though I very much doubt this line-up will happen on the night. I dont after all decide that, I.O does. I do think I.O. should really think hard though about pushing Saunders up front tonight. Its a gamble but one that we've tried in the past with Jay & it came off. (Jay at the back was also an option & used in days gone by).

I understand what youre saying about Jay, Cookie. But at this moment in time he is by far our best midfielder in my opinion and would not necassarily be our best forward (again in my opinion), he may well be our best defender though. So I think losing him in midfield would leave us with very little creativity. I think that we lost a hell of alot of momentum and belief when Butler left and in the period before appointing IOC we were woeful and it may take more time than we have got before things start improving to the extent that we need. Anyway heres hoping for tonight.

Have'nt seen him play for a few years-but based on that-its Jay to start in right midfield for me.

Then-if we are losing-play him up front in the last 20 mins'and if we are winning by just the one goal-put him back as a supplementary player in defence for the last twenty minutes.
