Comments on Tonbridge game

Robinson was getting skinned and passing to the oppo before he got sent off. It was borderline yellow/red for me.

No cohesion in the team whatsoever. Tonbridge first to the ball every time, closing our players down and forcing errors, where we were giving them time and standing off them.

Second half we were a lot better, to be fair, but taking off a midfielder for a striker looked odd for a 10-man team at 0-1 (or was it 0-2 by then, I can't remember).

Result was fair enough; Tonbridge deserved it for their higher workrate and flowing movement.

One consolation, Saunders has lost none of his quality, but he can't do it all on his own.

MOM award to the groundsman for getting that pitch to good condition after all the rain.

Sweepstake on when we will see the first 'O'CONNELL OUT' thread, anybody?

Not good enough again - we will run out of games and be too far behind before we improve enough . Right back doesn't look great, I'm not the biggest fan of Curtis but thought he was harshly sent off- now has a poor disiplinary record too. Like the look of Barnes and although not his best game it's nice to have someone in Saunders who will tackle- looks like carrying a injury- but for the money he is on and the reward he is getting if we stay up - I expected better. We need a goalscorer obviously - Pinnock in before Saturday ?

All in all not a good night - absolute must win game on sat - home to bottom team - if we don't win , it's all over.

Couldn't agree more, Waltham Abbey also have 2 games in hand over us, must must must must win or we're down.

I must admit when I saw this team at the start of the match I was hugely optomistic because this is a good team.So congrats to KP and IOC for getting the new players in so quickly.Unfortunately the performance was very poor in the first half.I still thought we could get a result until Robinson was sent off in 1st half injury time(with a late tackle that was definately a red card) and I knew the 2nd half would be very difficult. We actually started the 2nd half playing better than we did in the 1st but we were gradually worn down and conceded another 2 because we were pushing forward looking for an equaliser.I do believe this could be a very good team but they need to gel very quickly and lets hope for everybody's sake that they do.

We need to look at our tackling and discipline generally ie cards for arguing wjth the ref because it is difficult enough to win with 11 players on the pitch.

We need to practice our free kicks because most of them tonight were poor.

Well done Blackman I don't think he was caught offside once.

Is Ben Clarke the right player to be at full back, with robinson in front of him?looks the wrong way round to me from 230 miles away -but what do i know?

otherwise-on paper a good team- i guess Lacy back for Grant on saturday.

I guess that this is where Michael got it from Alan. Once Robinson went then Clarke reverted to the full backs role.Wasting his talent back there but what else could I.O do at that stage.

Red card was a "certainty". Obviously Curtis is fed up now seeing yellow & wanted a change of colour. ;) Seriously though a "shocker" of a tackle. I have never seen a red issued so quickly.Ref had the card out even before he could reach into his pocket (so it seemed).

We need two strikers urgently. Rob Haworth, Danny Hockton and James Pinnock. Any two of those three and we'd have a chance of staying up. Two full backs would be great too! Not much then. Shows why we're in such a dire position doesn't it.

Stupid tackle for the sending off. The second and third goals came when we were chasing the game, however we had a few let-offs in the first half I thought, when we were woeful. Simply put, we don't have a strikeforce at the moment.

Now those are parts of your post I fully agree with but to add to that Tonbridge not only had the better working rate they were cleverer than us,made spot on passes, sometimes at awsome pace & used to full effect, the spaces we left open. Ball control too was immaculate unlike ours. 2nd half we did better & did well without having that killer instinct in front of goal & still having no "lethal" target man/goalscorer. Am not sure Pinns would change anything in that department this time round but we'll see. It could but I can't see it .

Cookie I also feel Pinns alone isn't going to be enough to score the goals to keep us up. To achieve the turnaround needed it's going to take a bit more expense - Hockton. The target man qualities of Haworth would be a huge help if Hockton's beyond our means, providing of course that we could persuade Rob to come back.

I mentioned Haworth to Keith last night. He said he had asked after him & despite Dartford having 4 strikers their manager wanted to keep all four. So thats out of the window unfortunately.Someone similar to Haworth would be ideal though,I agree.

As ive said all season 90 percent of the side are not up to it at all, they are only Kent league at best sadly, results dont lie we havnt won a game in the league this year and now its March what a joke. A major major clear out is needed at the end of the season and not signing has beens will not improve us. Even if we had Capello as manager this team wouldnt improve there are sub standard. Im pleased Ian Oconnell got the job he is a lovely bloke and will take no crap and hopefully instill some quality and passion which this side lacks. I do hope Ian and CK get the support from the board and not let down in anyway, but sadly with this side Ian and CK will have to start the reveloution hopefully in Ryman South. It will take alot of results and promises kept to bring anymore supporters back to Hartsdown 333 last nite we were lucky to get. People have had enough of the way the clubs gone and with us so poor and nearly in Ryman South it will take more than Ian and CK comming back to start supporters comming again. I wish IOC and CK all the luck in the world just wish us supporters got what we should have had a new ground and stabilty maybe im dreaming or still am.

More upheaval, just what we need! Booth apart I didn't think there was any great quality in the Tonbridge team, but you could see which team was settled and had been playing together week after week. You don't need good players, just continuity with people who know what their roles are. Instead it seems we are spunking cash on 'marquee' players who probably won't keep us up anyway.

I asked this the other day, but have we named the same team two games running this season?

I know people praise Blackmans work rate but I wonder about his positioning. He is supposed to be our main striker but he never appears to get himself into the box to score. Last night Jay put a great header back into the box, which looked like it was going out, but nobody was there. Sureley thats where our main striker needs to be, planted on the centre spot, ready to pick up those chances.

Also a taste of what the Rams supporters were talking about Sam Jones last night. Likes to run with the ball and went on some good runs last night, but doesn't seem to get anywhere, and then loses it. He didn't show that in the early matches but I thought it was prevalant last night.

I think we did once during MB's reign, which raised a few eyebrows at the time such is the rarity of it these days. No coincidence that things appeared to be coming together. Anyway, I'm sure any inquests can wait until the end of the season.

I am very disapointed with last nights performance i expected a lot better from the players but not one player produced for us. I said before the game that if we show commitment and character then we will stand a very good chance of winning the game, none of this was evident through out the 90 mins. What the hell was Curtis Robinson thinking? As a full back all he had to do was stand his ground, but instead decided to go for a ball that he wasn't going to get with his studs going. For a player who some on here think is good enough for football league, this isn't too far from being a type of tackle you see in Sunday League. I can't really thinkg of a player who shon for us last night.

Before last night i was confident that we were going to stay up, but now it's seems like wishful thinking, lets hope Waltham Abbey don't turn that into a dream.

WE NEED TO WIN SATURDAY, PERIOD!!!!!
