Why are refs so poor when the assessot is about?

Apparently there was a referee's assessor present yesterday (unless I was told wrong).

There's always silly decisions made and invariably a sending off when that happens. Ricky Hayles didn't deserve to go imo. The way the Hastings keeper was laying into the ref at the end of the game, they weren't happy either. Just spoils the game for everyone. I don't think referees should be told when they are being assessed.

It would be funny if it wasn't true, while the ref was waiting for the players I was talking to him when he asked about the Chelsea result, when I informed him that 2 players were sent off I then said to him I hoped he was not going to do the same thing, his reply was................." I do not intend to "....................funny old game

We are all of the belief that our team has been wronged on more than one occasion following what we perceive to be a shocking decision from the officials.

But if the truth be known, invariably that get it right.

It's okay Sky and co having more cameras at a game than a Harry Potter film set and it is so easy to be wise after the event.

Unfortunately, the officials have one split-second view of an incident and they have to call it as they see it in real time - not Andy Gray time.

An arm here, a leg there and the ref's vision can be obscured and to the letter of the law, he cannot give what he cannot see.

I feel sorry for linos in respect of the offside law, the understanding of which was supposedly a male bastion, but is now so convoluted that Einstein would have to get a second opinion on it.

First phase, second phase, interfering..it's all bollox. Let's have a line between the centre spot and the edge of the penalty area and if any attacker is over that line when the ball is played then he is offside - regardless off how far he is from play.

A bit draconian? Maybe so, but at least the rule would be simple, most offside decisions would be correct and even women might understand it.

ROCK ON TOMMY...

We all look at situations with rose tinted glasses when our own team is involved, I agree with that, but it just seems when assessors are about the refs are extremely quick to give bookings for next to nothing when they normally would let it go. It's that inconsistency that doesn't help with players and annoys the fans. I wouldn't want to be a ref though.

As for the offside rule, it used to be simple and it worked. Now it's all over the place.

rick's first booking was rediculous which resulted in his sending off for his second offence which was bookable, and even more blantant when the hastings number 6 lunged in at soz was never going to get the ball but stopped the player at all cost he got off lightly with a booking, and to soz's credit he dusted himself down and got on with it where other players would have rolled around the floor to maximise the affect of getting the aggressor sent off

You dont have to only look in the Ryman League for poor ref's, There was a complete usless twat trying to ref the Carling Cup Final yesterday. What a guttless wonder. If that had been a Villa centre back he would of been straight off !!!!!!

Graham Poll stated that the Villa player was going away from goal and the Ref's decision is correct.

Pot and kettles Bob.

Carragher should have been sent off at Anfield against Man U.
