Billericay Town V Aveley GAME IS ON

Recommended Posts

After checking the website just before 1pm, a bus into Southend, train into Billericay, and wander down the road from the station, the blokes in Aveley tracksuits walking out of the ground 20 minutes before kick-off suggested otherwise .....

Yes they didn't want to play us. The ref was happy but offered it to the managers and theirs scuppered it.

Think you will find it the Ref was happy neither club would have had any say.

True but there is no mistaking that when offered the choice, Aveley made the decision. And then blamed the ref...how couragous of them.

I'm looking forward to the rearranged match now...I suppose we will have to play it on a Monday and should we have a light shower before the game ask the Aveley officials to ispect the pitch.

The referee should make the decision that's for sure...how long did that guy dither around for?

Even sad old Miller would have to admit though the reason that the game was not played was because Aveley declined to play. Maybe they wanted to keep their players fresh for their League Cup quarter final on Monday (which will probably get called off anyway). Not that long ago, playing on a surface like that would have been common place even at the highest level - Another nail in the coffin of non-league football I'm afraid.

You lot do love a moan... A ref will inspect the pitch. If it's obviously unplayable then c'est la vie.. if he feels that there may be a chance of it going ahead, he will offer it to both managers, who have to be in agreement.

I take it you were both privvy to the conversation between the three parties? If not, we all know how quickly Chinese whispers can move around at a football ground.

I agree that games are called off to quickly these days.. we are all being sucked in by Elf and Safety and the bollox that go with it.

It would be interesting to see what your reactions would have been if it had of been played and you had lost or drawn.

And those points lost meant relegation by one or two points at the end of the season.

Yup jl, it was obvious that Aveley declined to play and I agree the ref should've made the decision...

For not making a decision, he got half his fee.

Perhaps if a club refuses to play, they should forfit their three points?

And to our Romford freind that has decided to pitch up (excuse the pun), players win and lose games, not pitch's...or does that not apply to the Ryman League North? (would go some way to explain why our visitors declined yesterday).

Hate to reiterate the point, but the man in black has the final say. that's what he's there for. So if you don't play it's because he says so. Simples!

what part of the word 'could' didn't you get to grips with?

I understood all of it, thank you for asking. Although I am surprised you're asking me that question because...

...which part of "ta, ta, see you later...goodbye" did you not understand...?

Is that it? What a vacuous individual you are...
