Whilst waiting for any official confirmation /denial of any such appmnt. later this evening;does anyone know where I.OC lives and the type of work he does 'daytime' as despite i still reckon that was a significant factor in the MB /margate football club divorce.

If it is to be an IOC (international olympic committee ) apppmnt.maybe someone could ask those two specific questions at the forum ?

Yes what a shock. Piper gets his own way yet again. Mark Butler never stood a chance.

Cant please all of the people all of the time, especially those that dont go to watch the team..... Really good appointment IMO, hopefully will shake things up a bit on the field and always a "Fans" favourite so maybe instill a bit of pride into the lads - heres hoping he brings with him a couple his better players or some of "our older" favourites (i.e. Jay Saunders and the like).

(From Kentnews.co.uk)

O'Connell expected to be named Blues boss

Iain O’Connell is expected to be announced as Margate’s new manager tonight having reportedly left his post as Great Wakering Rovers boss.

The Southend Echo have reported O’Connell’s departure from the Ryman One North side, who are challenging for a play-off spot and promotion to the Premier Division.

In his playing days, O’Connell signed for Margate from Dover Athletic in 1997 and was part of the Blues side which gained promotion to the Conference.

He spent six-and-a-half years at Hartsdown Park before moving on to Chelmsford City and then taking over as player-manager at Great Wakering, guiding the village side to their highest-ever finish, 13th in Ryman North, in 2006/07.

Margate will officially announce Mark Butler’s replacement at their fans forum tonight, to be held at Hartsdown Park at 7.30pm.

I expect I'm the only one not over the moon. At least he has experience in the Ryman South which is now where we will be next year - maybe the board have already accepted relegation and so have appointed a manager with no experience in the ryman premier.

I wanted Hume/Walker or Ford . Suppose tonight will confirm!!

i expect you and hornet will stay away from HDP

No experiance in the ryman premier correct i take it his respect and knowledge for the game count for nout as well. bad move isuppose dope sorry dom for Jay Saunders to join us, crawl back under your rock and take Mr Negative (hornet) with you as well
