Slough Town 2-2 Sutton Coldfield

Lead 2-0 at half-time with goals from Sonner and Buchannan and played pretty well with Sutton despite hitting the post looking pretty ordinary.

Second-half they push three up front and it causes us all kinds of problems and it finishes 2-2 in a carbon copy of the opening day of the season. In my opinion the midfield was cut through far too easily and we played badly in the second.

Can look at the result two ways really on the plus side Sutton are probably the side with the best chance of getting into the play-off pack so a draw against them on paper is a good result, but to throw away a two-goal lead hoping to catch the top three is a bad result that feels like a defeat.

frustrating is damn right

2-0 up at half time and comfortable. Sutton Coldfield offered little in truth 1st half but the early goal back knocked the stuffing out of us. rare mistake by Perks with a high ball resulting in a cheap goal

sickening thing is we seemed to have ridden out the storm just as the equaliser went in. more composure by us and we could or should have put it away but 1 was cleared off the line and 1 inches wide.

defensively Coldfield seemed very prone to the long ball (rare for teams against us) and typical we didn't really play to that

looks like Chesham and Burnham won not sure about the rest but not a good day for us

Well it was positive in the first half as we were well on top and should really have gone in three or four goals ahead. But as Chris said, in the second half they made changes, really went for it, and ended up dominating the midfield and we couldn't cope. I really do think we need a holding player in there, I'm not convinced either Kean or Clark can do it. It's fine when we're on top and chasing goals, but not so when we're trying to hold onto leads.

I think games like today show why we're not going to win the league, but we're more than good enough to finish in the playoffs. It was important not to lose today, but hugely frustrating that we didn't win.

We played well in the first half and were denied once or twice on the line. Second half we started slow and let two in.

we seemed to be missing our centre midfield when we lost the ball. Every one played well though (must be POSITIVE  )

does anyone know why Edgeworth was not playing/on the bench)

Also we need a player like pritchard last season who dominates midfield.

Yes another home game ! and lost points - more frustration for our supporters ..should have been outta sight by half time...

Sutton Coldfield showed why people are looking over their shoulders at this team, battled well and got some breaks...

the very very important thing is we did not lose to them ! that would have put the cat amonsgest the pidgeons ! for sure...

they still have to play catch up...on us..but we need 90mins ..instead of 45mins .... but we are heading in the right direction...

this first half performance today was the best for ages..only made it more frustrating , but the seconded half !

lets keep the faith ... chris s

No offence to Sutton Coldfield but they looked pretty ordinary for most of the match and only got the 'breaks' because we gave them the breaks by gifting them 2 goals.

TBH not really sure it's worth mentioning it because it's getting a bit boring and monotonous and aint going to change but has to be said that our midfield were pretty poor today and again allowed Sutton the freedom of the park.

I think were just going to have to accept that with the type of players we have in midfield we would never win the league but plenty of goals are guaranteed at either end.

again our major problem today was the midfield imo, they played to deep to be any effect and were too slow to move up on the attack so to leave our forwards to exposed and then invite sutton onto the attack , we were very poor in the marking of players when defending and too many players were guilty of ball watching, and what is dean clarkes game he has yet to convince me that he is the player that i'm told he can be, poor in the tackle (never seen him make one) his distribution is great (if you play for the opposition) can we afford a player like this! chris herron was off colour today nothing he tried seemed to work and he seemed a little behind the play today elliot and sean worked their socks off today as did sincs we should all be very thankfull that they did as the result could have been far worse than it was. i think we missed edges control today and hope that his ankle will be ok for tuesday , we really must get our work rate up and close down the opposition much faster as we are giving them too much time and space on the ball, the enforced break over christmas into january seems to have knocked us back and we seem to be struggling to find the form we had earlier on in the season gone is the fluid passing of the ball and in has come the kick and chase , though i'm sure the pitch and weather conditions have something to do with this but attractive football it does not make, hopefully we will go to burnham on tuesday and give them a good spanking we owe them at least that.

Well those two halves summed up the two Slough Towns we've seen this season. First half, great going forward and caused them problems at the back. Second half, nervous and a bit slap dash especially at the back. Some people have said our midfield was again the problem today but I'd also point at our defence. Individually they are all excellent but as a team we don't defend well at all. How many times have we allowed people free headers in the box? Their equaliser was schoolboy stuff and that's not about the midfield. With the defenders we have we should not be conceding goals like that.

Cannot disagree Ian, both goals came from defensive errors but whats been evident for a large part of the season is that when we are on the ball in midfield we are ok but off the ball we really are easy fodder for most teams.

I think we should all just enjoy the rest of the season, get into the lottery that they call the play-offs and then win or lose reflect on what I would call a pretty good season that most people would have accepted at the beginning of the season.

Another poor performance perhaps its the state of the pitch but Chris how can you name Yeboah as man of the match IMO he was awful and in general the defence was not good even NBH(I know he got a knock)didnt have his best game, 2nd half we were lucky to get away with a draw,

Qusetion did we have a midfield in the 2nd half?

Yeboah did quite well today I thought. I think most players had a good first half but it's easy to look good when you're so much on top like we were. In the second half our better players faded (Sinclair, Sonner etc) in my opinion as Sutton Coldfield got well on top and our midfield stopped working. But in that second half we had to hold firm under the pressure and possibly were lucky not to concede again. I don't think you can blame any one player for conceding the two goals.

The annoying thing is it was so predictable once they'd pulled one back five or six minutes into the second half. How many times have we seen that, and in general we're losing far too many points at home.

One difference between the 2 sides---their corners were well taken. Generally (not just in this match) ours often fail to beat the first defender. This has been quite noticable recently, and perhaps explains why NBH has not scored many in the last few games. Still the good news is that we are still well placed to finish 4th or 5th, and I think that would give us an away draw for the semi. And our away form is better than our home form.

Hello All

Enjoyed my visit today.

A true game of two halfs! If we would have gone in 4 down at half time we could have had no complaints.

BUT our management pulled off a master stroke again and in the second half i dont think you could handle our shape and play.

I would have taken a draw on route to the game but i feel a little upset that we did not nick it at the death.

Fair result in the end i think and i bet we would all have got good odds on the scoreline repeating itself from day 1 of the season.

I enjoyed this game more though!

Your number 7 and 10 are too good for this league by the way you will do well to keep them.

See you in the play offs

Have we ever changed our shape or tactics?! When our shape works we are great but we only have one shape. Another team changes to combat us like Sutton did very effectively yesterday and we can't cope because we only know the one way. That said with one defender and three strikers on the bench I'm not sure we had the personnel to change it much. Not going to win the league but it would nice to beat Beaconsfield on Tuesday. Oh no, they're Burnham now aren't they!
