ETFC v Northwood

The way forward is to be active in the community. However, that needs time and effort and not possible Being a voluntary basis run club as the pressures and demands of the average working week are far greater than in the past.

However with the utilising of the local paper we could have a youth/community day once or twice a season where all kids with a paying adult are let in free. Or we can up the adult entry to £8 with all kids getting in free.

Otherwise all we need is one promotion to raise the profile and awareness of the club accordingly. We'd have free advertising on Sky TV of our fixtures at least plus out HT and FT scores on the vidi-printer.

We should be due a decent FA Cup run too sooner than later, you know to the 1st round proper or at least 4th qualifying round, it was afterall our great exploits to the 4th round proper with EFC in the 80's that we still speak of, which set the foundations and begginning of EFC's Non-League dominance.

I would be quite reluctant to support a rise in price to £8 - it is true that we have seen a decline in crowds but, I think that our decline would be even larger if we upped the price.

Perhaps a family ticket of £8 for any supporter with children under 12 may be the answer with a general price maintained at £7.

If the entrance fee is increased we will see a slump in attendance and the extra income from gate receipts may not off set the losses with the ancillaries - programmes, teas 50-50 etc. Certainly there should be no increase without promotion this season.

As for your comments that it was the "great exploits to the fourth round proper with EFC in the 80's that we still speak of, which set the foundations and beginning of EFC's non-league dominance. " I think you should re read Alan Diment's book. The foundations were set in the 60's not the 80's. I think that Jim, Medders and others with grey hair would agree with me.

Talking of Entry Prices, don't forget if Kids are "JETS" Members which costs just £5.00 per Season, they get into all Home League Games for FREE. Plus they get the chance to be Mascot :futbolbud2:

1959-60 Season reaching the Amateur Cup Semi-Final & also playing Bournemouth in the FA Cup, gave EFC the national exposure that led to better things after so many years of underachievement.

I was just throwing out ideas and thoughts from the top of my head.

But yes I agree £8 for any adult and the kids accompanying him in for free.

Ofcourse technically the foundations of the EFC set up were 60's, but us late 30's-mid 40's brigade will reflect to the 80's cup runs and Wembley appearances not to mention 'Conference' Champions. Add a 40,000 gate at White Hart Lane v's Barnsley and the foundations I can relate to are the 80's, however I am aware of our Amateur Cup explits of previous seasons.

Great win today 3-0 away to Ilford is no mean feat and very impressive.
