ETFC v Northwood

We are a little slow or reserved at passing views and comments this season, thats in comparison to the last couple of seasons. I think our forum is somewhat quiet amongst the cautious optimism that exists in the after match clubhouse.

A good win today where we actually stuffed a team 2-0 and a 4-0 scoreline would not have flattered us.

We are still sitting pretty in the top four, but now have 8 games within the next month not including the Staines cup match (which for me is a secondary priority), all starting with a tough home game v's Brentwood on Tuesday. We had a biggish crowd of 245 on Saturday which was positive and very encouraging to the players which they evidently responded too. We only have 5 home league games left this season (and dare I say it) with the weather being milder and the footy getting somewhat tastier I think the team and management need all the support as possible to cheer us on to the Play Off's. As supporters lets help drive our team to at least 15 remaining home points for the remainder of this season. I can't sign off without complimenting the second of clean sheets on the spin.

Personally, I don't think you will have any probs re play-offs. Lowestoft are nailed-on champions.

As for the next four.. Concord, yourselves and whovever can shake off their inconsistency tag in time.

I would go for Wingate and East Thurrock but will be an interesting finish none the less.

Hope you do make it, as long as we can p!ss in your tent at Camp Moli for 90 minutes at the end of next month!

Enfield Town (0) 2 Moore 60, Peacock OG 74

Northwood (0) 0

Attendance 245

With both sides evenly matched it took a while for any clear cut chance. Leon Osei brought the ball down but failed to trouble Rob Blackburne with a weak shot. Enfield Town had early chances to take the lead, first when a scrambled ball was cleared off the line, and punched clear by Smith. Michael Bardle followed up his thundering shot tipped over. Shortly after Jon Moore struck the bar from outside the box as Town failed to convert their chances. A decent spell from Northwood followed but despite pressure they failed to create many clear cut chances. Anthony Page tried a high shot but it fell easy for Blackburne. Craig McKay and Mark Kirby made several interventions restricting Northwood in front of goal. Northwood’s best chance fell late in the half when Harry Smart picked out Leon Osei but he was unable to make it count. Peacock got to an Aaron Cato corner but his header was turned over by Blackburne.

Town showed more of a spark in the second half, Ben Hammond having a shot turned wide. Smith needed to be on his toes to prevent Liam Hope getting to a quick free kick from Andy Jones. They took the lead after Ben Hammond centred for Jon Moore to fire home on the run. Northwood keeper Bobby Smith got a hand to the shot but was unable to keep it out. Northwood rallied briefly, John Christian having a shot blocked by Moore. Chris Seeby fired a long ball into the box, but it was cleared by McKay. When Adam Wallace’s powerful cross was headed into his own net by Michael Peacock Town started to look comfortable. Wallace broke into the box jinking past three defenders before blasting at goal but his shot was deflected into the side netting.

There were late chances for Northwood to get something from the game. Osei fired wide before having a shot saved by Rob Blackburne, and Seeby headed goalwards from a corner only to see his effort come back off the bar but it was too little too late.

Enfield Town: Rob Blackburne, Jordan Lockie, Michael Bardle, Craig McKay, Mark Kirby, Jon Moore, Ben Hammond (Dave Blower 90), Andy Jones, Stuart Blackburne (Adam Wallace 60), Liam Hope (Fabio Valenti 83), Sam Byfield.

Subs Not Used: Rudi Hall, Darren Bonfield.

Booked: Bardle

Northwood: Bobby Smith, Chris Seeby, Danny Power, John Christian, Michael peacock, Brad Hewitt, Aaron Cato (Hugo Figueiredo 66), Anthony Page (Sam Sharples 74), Eugene Ofori, Leon Osei, Harry Smart (Ryan Tackley 61).

Booked: Peacock,

This all too overwhelming, with you praising and thinking highly of our team, the fella from Great Wakering complimenting our supporters and our own fans having little or nothing to moan about. Praise to the management duo who seem to have changed both inside and outside views of our club 'double handedly'

I meant 'hope you make the play-offs'. Concord will win them :dance (2):

The only time I could ever be endearing towards you Townies, is if my dealer serves me up with some extra strong skunk.... :coolsmoke:

My first post since i started coming to watch enfield town!! really enjoyed this game, last year this would of been a game we would have lost!! impressive performance from the whole team! i really think steve and del have done a great job since they took over, the signings they have brought in half way though the season have been second to none, and vital for the push for the play offs. Hammond, kirby, byfield and bardel to name a few! really think we have a good chance of making it this year! what does everyone think?

Add John Moore, Liam Hope, Jordan Lockie to the list as well who have kept regulars on the bench. Oh yeah and a fella called Andy Jones its the same name as a player we've had for a couple of seasons but this Andy Jones seem's much more disciplined.

We stand a fighting chance it's just those gits Concord that are a real threat, however, all the top 7-8 clubs can beat each other its very competitive.

If you do go up do you think your crowds will go up much??

Our crowds at the mo are 240-250ish at the best, if we nick a promotion via play off's this season I can see our crowds hitting 400ish next season with them going up to close on 500 once at our new home at the QE. This is jusat my amateur view and expectations, as the new ground is more central in the borough and just a stones throw away from the old ground EFC were based at.

The only thing that will increase the crowds is the visiting support which is often poor in this league but I can't see there being many more locals just because of the division we are in.

The first year at the new crowd will draw a few in plus groundhoppers but will fall back to a standard level after a couple of months.

We need to grab the attention of more junior supporters as they bring along relatives and friends, that is the only way that we will increase the average attendance.

Is there not a way we can maybe get some of the players to go around to local schools and advertise coming to a game, have a family

day where parents get in half price if accompanied by a child under 12, maybe nearer the summer and get a barbie going! Then a family

disco in the bar after, surely events like this will get the gates up and genrate more money for the new ground fund!?

MbrunoB, I am sorry but I'll have to agree with you there

If we got promoted, gates may avearge 300, in the QE maybe 325

As for promoting games via discount vouchers, it was looked at a few years ago, and the fear was that current supporters would use the discounts, so it was thrown out. Maybe its time it was looked at again, before the end of the season, or if we get to the play offs, have a 3 for 2 offer?
