Prediction Time

Well it had to happen sooner or later so here goes:

Champions: C*nv*y Island (God that hurts)

Runners Up: Kettering

Dark Horses: Bishops Stortford - I agree with Simon surely the

kiss of death for them then

Grays underachievement award: Hornchurch

Bottom: Carshalton - Sorry but my predictions are normally crap so

I wouldn't worry too much.

Ricay finishing position: 10th.

Flippin' Eck prediction time....

Very difficult to make predictions this year as last season I felt the gap between top and bottom was the narrowest it's been during our time in the prem div.

C*nv*y will start as favourites, but King's propensity to fiddle about with the squad may well sink them again.....

I think that Kingstonian fall into the category of "teams who will do well so long as their financial problems don't re-emerge" See also: St.Albans (although I think Stalebuns' best chance was last season)

Kettering should do OK, midfield looks strong, though I'm not convinced they've got enough up front.

Hornchurch, opposite to Kettering, plenty up front, but I'm not convinced they've got the defense or midfield to make a sustained challenge for the top spot.

Bedford finished the season well and could prove to be among the dark horses.

Purfleet are always there or thereabouts and have made some shrewd signings, as have Hendon. Can't see either side winning it , but both will be top 7 imho.

At the bottom, as previously mentioned I reckon Aylesbury will struggle. Not convinced Boretree will be able to stay clear of the bottom 4 either. Newly promoted teams have tended, in recent seasons at least, to avoid relegation at the first attempt. Would suggest Carshalton may be most likely to drop out of the 4 newbies.

I'd go for Kettering as champions (im only saying this as i want this to happen and it not be the scum!)

Grays cant be as bad as last season so maybe a good outside bet.

the Blues to me mid table, first round proper of fa cup and a good run in the league cup.

Well in centre defence we've got ollie and moore, and i seem to remember in an earlier thread how one of your fans was saying how good your defence was.

As for Midfield. Lockey and Southen rock solid in the centre.

So what's the plan then? 3 keepers, a solid back 4 then 2 in mid and 2 up front?

I'm not saying that Ollie and Moore aren't decent players, just that they're not championship quality. Similarly I remember seeing Southon play for Purfleet against us and he is very ordinary at this level. Locke is a new one to me so can't comment, but since the botch job the league made of it's re-org the gap from div 1 to prem is much bigger than when we were div 1 and it was big then. We had players that looked world beaters in div 1, but struggled to make much impact in the prem.

its true that weve signed a few from div one, but i think they are predominantly youngsters with scope for improvement and hopefully weve managed to cherry pick the best of them. i think the problem hornchurch may have is that a lot of people especially you Urchins supporters think that you will be challenging for top spot this season, whereas most teams who get promoted would generally settle for a mid-table slot in their first season up. I reckon you guys will finish mid div and that should be satisfactory for you...oh and don't expect to score too many either..sorry georgey b i'll still buy u a beer!!!

With an average age of somewhere around 23, we'll have one of, if not actually the youngest squad in the div. Of the 3 players we've signed from last season's div 1 clubs, Trenkel scored 23 goals last season which is hardly average. Jones was being chased by a number of prem div clubs and Bauckham was at Spurs as a youngster. All young players and all looking to make the step up. It's certainly going to be interesting and I can't wait til tuesday to see them actually play some football!

Mid table will still be good considering we have only just been promoted, but i seriously think we will do better than that. Are strike force is unbelievable. I'm not sure if we'll get promoted but i think we'll be up there challenging. We'll be able to tell after are first 3 games. Hendon away who finished 3rd last season, Hayes who only came down from the conference 2 years a go, and Kettering who have just come down.
