Aylesbury beat Watford 2-1

Only a friendly but Aylesbury beat Watford 2-1 tonight. They had a good run at the end of the season and didn't they make they trophy semi final. Could be lively longshots.

I have to say I've got Aylesbury down to struggle this season (as previously mentioned my predictions are notoriously erratic mind you)

 

Their chairman has pulled out his money, their manager left to go to Staines who offered him a bigger budget, a fair number of their better players followed him to Staines, including Craig Maskell who for my money is one of the best players around at this level.

 

Friendlies count for diddley squat - getting players fit and sharp, and having a look at a few triallists is more important than results.

If you're talking rank outsiders who could suprise a few people then I would suggest Bishops Stortford. They've made some good signings, couple of good defenders (1 from gravesend) and Roy Essandoh. If Roy can rediscover his scoring touch then they could easily be up in the top 5!
