North Stand Plans

Good news. Let's hope it gets approved and somebody can afford to build it.

I found out how to view the plans without tipping my computer on its side: download to your desktop, double click to open in adobe and click 'view' (top left) and then 'rotate'.

A bit confused at first as to why the north stand is on the east side of the stadium, but it turns out the compass (top left of the site plan) is wrong. North should be around the 2 o'clock postion.

I just right clicked & turned it clockwise till I got it the right way ut.Anyway two choices now on how to get it the right way up.A bit confused at first as to why the north stand is on the east side of the stadium, but it turns out the compass (top left of the site plan) is wrong. I just right clicked & "rotated it clockwise" 3 times till I got it the right way up. Anyway, two choices now on how to get it the right way up.

Anyone know if the terracing is going to be covered? Couldn't really tell from the plans.

Yes, covered terracing.

Here is a side elevation from the bottom entrance looking towards where the five-a-sides are (you may have to click image to enlarge)

Just to correct Cookie's post, as he quoted me wrong.

So what is the purpose of this planning application when obviously there's no chance of the thing actually being built?

Surely if there really was a six figure sum hanging around at MFC waiting to be spent, it would be better invested in achieving two successive promotions and thereby increasing the revenue flow to build for the future. Or at least some kind of commercial venture like the 5-a-sides or the previously proposed hotel/driving/medical centres. This plan seems to be nothing but a football stand: nice for the supporters, but little or no business value.

Perhaps the application is meant to be a feel good thing and get a few more bodies through the turnstiles. Apart from that I don't get it. Has anyone got any other ideas?

Like to think we are re-building our fortunes, in the same way other clubs have i.e. Dover, Dartford, Hastings and others, which way its done is down to debate, A case of what comes first I suppose.

If you look at the plans you will see that it incorparates the changing facilities for the 5 a sides. It also has a bar/rest area for those using the facilities which would also be open on match days. Then there is the learning zone which the club is involved in and recieves a grant for, and then of course the changing rooms for the players officials, so I think you will find it is a little bit more than just a stand.

My understanding is that this is also being built not be MFC bur by a different company-Margate and hartsdown development;plus i believe that it its role as a community club-M and H have an obligation and commitment to proceed with the development.

effectively-the football club is one thing ,and the building works is in the hands of a different company

  • 2 weeks later...

In a desperate effort to find some good news , i though i would surf TDC planning site today to seek confirmation that the plans are securely lodged with TDC -and drew a blank-which was a bit of a concern.

Maybe i was 'checking it out wrongly'?

Then reconciled myself by assuning (very dangerous ) that because it is a variation of existing plans-maybe it does not get recorded as such -he hopes !!
