You might just have missed the point there Matt

It was 5 across the mid-field that was the plan and 3 at the back does match 5 across the middle but the added ingrediant was 1 up front and of course 4 at the back

Crow was called late into the game so probably the Searle trial at Colchester was a late runner

It just may mean management are looking to tighten up at the back and concede less

It was a pleasant run out for Crow who enjoyed the game and you are left to wonder what will transpire if Colchester take Searle

getting back to the thurgood debate.. having a 'headless chicken' running around midfield non stop for the 90 could be just what we need defensivly to give our more 'cultured' players time to compose themselves

Right so that would've meant Duffers playing left-back in the first half!

 

So we would've had:

As you have it now is how it was described to me

One thing I can't believe is how long we've been playing Chenery on the left-side of defence, when I knew before he even joined CIFC that he was a right-back! He looked better at right-back Friday than he did on the left for most of last season. (Remember Yeading when he swapped sides when Crow came on? The defence looked more sured up)

 

If we signed our 'Trialist Defender' <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> which I reckon we should. Then there are 5 defenders there; (Wardy, Cowan, Chenery, Crow & 'Him') that would make up one hell of a defence. Not to mention IF we signed Whelan, Searle, Smith etc. We'll have Benno as cover too and Lewis Lilley and Protheroe & Dobbo can play in defence too if we get stretched...

 

The midfield certainly looks a bit over crowded though.

 

JK, Michael Lee, Midgley, Parmenter, Minton, Protheroe, Dobbo, Benno, Forbes, Dave Gregory, Duffy & Gooden. (Anyone I've left out?) That is certainly crowded, especially if we only play 4 in midfield this season... Oh yeah and Thurgood.

 

Plus our four Strikers - Gregors, Boylan, Berquez, Brayley & probably Midgley up front. We've definately got our Squad it's just finding the killer combo and keeping everyone happy!! But no doubt I have a feeling one or two of our Midfielders will leave before the start of the season.

 

Goalkeepers are sorted - Potter as No. 1, Ash on the bench and Glen Johnson in Reserve.

 

 

Bring on the season!!!!!!

No, I'm not aware that he has left it's just...well he's not the most popular player with the Management at the minute. So his position in the pecking order is falling. He's probably fifth choice at the minute actually behind; Boylan, Midgley, Gregory & Berquez.

well with 2 games a week there is plenty of matchs for squad players to break into the team what with all the esc and ryman cup games..

i,d love to get back into the first round of the f.a. cup again

but surely a geezer on that much wages a week (700 i heard) cannot be a 5th choice sriker. costing the club money and wasting his time

I believe Bertie is free to have trials with any Club that are interested in his services. It's just if the Club is willing to sign him if the trial period has expired.

so the northern monkey couldn't understand the road signs? mind you its hard to concentrate when your driving a nicked car you are unfamiliar with.. over priced beer? fk me im surprised he didnt take it home with him and swap it for a new house..

and grim..? well we all know park lane has a certain er, unkempt charm, but how can anyone from a northern industrial wasteland where coal mining is a job rather than a tourist attraction call anything other than the local hull birds grim..

legal disclaimer.. i have never been to hull..i probably never will go to hull.. im sure is very nice and the nearest coal mine could be 100 miles away.. i bet he can drive really well, has his own car, and a lovely house which is worth more than a pint of lager (just)..
