Frome Town v Windsor & Eton Latest

The game was very tight with few chances, to be honest they looked like they had set up shop for a draw and to hit us on the break (well kick the ball hopefully into the corners and chase it). When they scored, against the run of play. they offered very little else. although we looked more composed on the ball we had very few chance sin the first half and 0-0 would probably have reflected the match mroe accurately.

The second half saw us dominate more and look more dangerous, when Joe came on the midfield looked more balances and we pressed, the goal was coming and a winner looked a distinct possibility near the end. Their defence wass strong and well organised but wouldn't say much else. I was disappointed we didn't test the keeper very much as he was very poor.

The most disappointing part of the day out was their fans, generally a pretty nasty, aggressive lot who couldn't even muster a civil word in the clubhouse at half time, cockney w*****s was all they managed. The young children swearing their heads off at us whilst their parents looked on smiling and laughing summed up the sort of welcome we got. Funny that cos the fans who came to us and I chatted to were a pleasant and nice bunch of chaps.

Be interested to see what SWR thought of the game.

Be interested to see how Totton do down there next week, similar result would suit us just fine

ps Windsor is NOT in London and a good 40 odd miles plus from making the inhabitants cockernees

Re: the Frome chavs’ accusation of Cockney Onanism. A Cockney is born within the sound of the bells of St. Mary-le-Bow in East London. I probably live nearer Bow Church than most W@E fans but the bells were destroyed in the 1941 blitz and not rebuilt until 1961, after I was born. This refutes my credentials as a Cockney. In any event I was born in Windsor. Nor do I own any albums, EPs or singles by the Oi band Cockney Rejects. As for the sin of Onan, not guilty m’lord.

A good point well earned last night and a vibrant atmosphere despite a few mouthy kids. The Frome fans I spoke to were kind and friendly and a credit to their club.

A strange game really. For all our domination in terms of possession and territorial play, we didn't have too many efforts on goal. We took a while to get going in the first half, in fact Frome actually mounted a couple of attacks in the opening 5 minutes and it looked like it might be a good entertaining end to end game.....alas they quickly returned to type i.e. everyone behind the ball and then boot it rugby style towards the corners and hope for a piece of good fortune, which they duly got for their goal.

Second half was as one sided as you can get. We were camped in their half but to be fair they defended really well especially their number5 and number2. It looked like it might be one of those frustrating nights until Chenns slipped a great ball through to Gavin who showed great composure to finish. We finished off the game with 3 at the back and 3 up top as we went for the win (it was nice to see one side try to win the game). Richardson made a big difference when he came on and caused them all sorts of problems.

I won't comment too much on some of their fans as I'm sure they were just a minority, but being called Cockernee Waynekeers and London Scum for having the audacity to stand behind the goal we was attacking in the first half seemed a bit extreme. The constant Eastenders references were almost laughable (look at a map ffs) particularly when somebody tries to do a mock London accent in a Elgin Sparrowhawk (farm manager) voice. Got a few "scum" comments while walking towards the bar at half time which was interesting....and they were winning at the time! There are some angry people down Frome way!

To be honest you sort of expect it from the kids but the adults (and I use that term loosely here) were a foul mouthed aggressive bunch who were not having banter but trying to intimidate and under possibly different circumstances I would say looking to cause a bit of trouble.

Funny, we have also experienced this at Truro and the ever delightful Taunton, even the Totton fans who don't like leaving the bar were giving it some when we visited them last. and they ALL seem to think we come from the East End of London (ooh, best add Cindeford to that, "Bloody Cockernees get all the effing decisions" plus a few racist comments).

But again the travelling Totton fans were very pleasant and supported their team well and were gracious in defeat.

Compare this to the Bridgewater fans (we beat them 3-0 and they applauded us off the pitch and had a very nice conversation in the bar after the game) and the Mangotsfield fans who we enjoyed two cracking games of darts and a few friendly pints with, despite conceding a very late goal and feeling a bit dejected (no hard feelings, a good game and some late disappointment, no need to get abusive), you sometimes wonder what their problem is?

Oh well, onwards and upwards, move on and enjoy the game Saturday and hopefully get a win, I thought the way we finished Wednesday's game was encouraging, we looked back to our old selves and if we can take this into our next few games we should be okay.

BOO HOO HOOO! Some kiddies called us cockneys and kept saying " where is peggy"

Blimey. Now i know what fans in the 80's went through :biglaugh:

But actually yeah something should of been done to stop them running behind us and trying to get a reaction. Could you imagine if they did that when we had a few beers in us from a trip on the train? It wouldnt of ended like it did last night! :drinkies:

As for the game. Thought we played really well after a slowish start, understandable considering the coach only got to the ground at 7. However their 'lucky' goal took us out of our stride and we struggled to get back into it until late on. Think if they score first against totton they could win it as they are a well organised side.

Oh...and for any totton fans going...get there early and go to the pub on the corner. Wednesday is 2 for £15 steak night! Nice grub, cheap and freindly bar staff! Ask ian for more info. He'll tell you it all. Even scotty heard about it!

Win on saturday vs a cinderford side who are getting better all the time please! Thanks.

heres a few quotes from the real frome fans from there forum

The who are ya, top of the league your aving a laugh, frome town chants etc are good but some are not and the fact that over the tannoy before the match it mentions foul and abusive language not being tolerated makes it a mockery.

Like Robin Banks said chants and that are fine but last night targetting 10 fans stood behind the goal who had come along way to see there team when there is probably about 60 Frome fans by them aint really big, hard or clever to be honest

There was about 10-15 kids sat on the wall by the club and then one kept deciding to run behind the Windsor fans (who were up the clubhouse end first half behind the goal) goading them and swearing at them, he must of been 10, very embarrasing indeed and we dont want to start getting a reputation for being horrible, mouthy fans like Bridgy, like you say be intimidating yes, dam right rude no, absloutley no need.

And the ones that were laughing are just as bad, i know if we went away and that happened i for one would not be happy and not sure the rest of you would be either.

Something for the club to look at for sure.

Not quite sure which coach you were lookingat Woody, we got there at 6:30pm and were out on the pitch warming up by 7:05pm.

i agree, I thought we never really looked like conceding and a deflected shot that was going wide was the only likely option. In the first half we looked slightly better.

the second half we stepped it up, but would like to say i thought pretty much all of the team had a good game. Despite what Woody says i think Kristen has had two good games filling in for Seedel and could be a key player in our title push. Pearce looks a little lightweight but I reckon in a season or two could be good, Joe came on and gave us a better shape in the midfield and finally a very good finish from Gavin, Ii thought it was going to be saved by the keeper but he slotted it in very well. He also looked very comfortable and composed on the ball and was a good foil for Chenns.

If we continue to play like this we will pick up a majority of points still available, although i believe it was a point gained last night we could have taken all three with the onslaught of their goal at the end. But i still can't believe there were possibly only 4 shots on target all night......

Well Fuzzy, my boss decided that its far more important for me to make custard & rice pudding, than it is to "Go gallavanting up country for football" & i wasnt allowed the time off to go to Frome (theres 3 frome fans based in Cornwall & none of us actualy made it to the game!!). So, all ive got to go by is fans' opinions & the match report but it certainly appears Frome defended too deep in the second half & if you do that then (in my opinion) youre inviting the oposition to come at you & ultimately deserve to concede a goal) Im the same as everyone else & believe that football should be all about attacking & scoring as many goals as possible BUT its also a tactical game & sometimes when you know youre really up against it then taking a defensive stance is the best thing to do. W & E fans & players should take it as a compliment & testament to the resect teams have for you. As ive said, i prefer pacy, attacking football but its not gone unnoticed the Frome Town are the ONLY team W & E have failed tov beat over the 2 games & that (blowing the trumpet for FTFC) is something for us to be proud of & obviously a talented & strong defence to build on. Dont forget, this is our 1st season at SL level.

Theres a few good shots of your manager from last night on our photographers site. Have a look, he can be a very animated person cant he. Bet he gives a mean "hairdryer treatment"!!

On previous threads ive tried to encourage as many of you Windsor fans as possible to come to Badgers Hill & ENJOY your trip so im pretty gutted to see yours & others comments.

For what its worth, please accept my appologies on behalf of FTFC & FTFC TRUE fans. This is NOT the usual behaviour of Frome fans.

I wasnt there so cant comment & wont make excuses for any of the treatment you received. but i will say that a midweek crowd of 240 is high for us & coupled with half term suggests a few, usualy not seen before, kids attended. What makes you say their parents were behind them? As i said, im gutted you didnt enjoy the visit & go away with nothing but praise & admiration for the supporters of FTFC.

The Clubhouse End at Frome has had a reputation as being intimidating, partisan, passionate, & very vocal for many years now & ive throughly enjoyed being part of that reputation, but it has never been known "Nasty &

Aggressive". Intimidating to oposing Keepers yeah, & if away fans care to come & join us then yeah, banter will fly your way, but its always friendly banter & getting it back is all part of it. Thats how its supposed to go anyway! Thats the way it usually goes!

Intimidating no. Hardly welcoming..yes but its a football game not a tea party and alot of clubs coming up from lower levels seem to have a slightly different take on things. Cant say i am a fan of it but there you go. Truro, Totto, and Frome dont swap ends...and they all had or are having great first seasons in this league!

It's your keeper i have the problem with!

Not intimidating for fans but for the oposition defenders & keeper. Anyway, whats your problem with our keeper then Woody?

The swear filter will block out everything i want to say but i think he's a dick might just get past them.

OH!!!!!! In that case Woody its probably best to do what most oposing fans do & that is to agree to disagree! You obviously have your reasons & im happy to hear them, but from what ive seen & read of him & a bit of bias too, the man gets a big thumbs up from me!! But then he would wouldnt he? Hes fromes Keeper!!

I don't think he's been forgiven yet for trying to get Richardson sent off in the game at our place...

That was very poor show, but I should imagine he was pretty ashamed himself on reflection. Forgive and forget I say.

Guys, you are badly wrong with your reason to dislike dislike our keeper Tom Pass because it wasn`t him who played in goal at your place, it was in fact Daffydd Jones between the sticks that day
