I was very surprised to find a game on tonight with the torrential rain in London and sourrounding areas all through Tuesday. I was at Hoddy V Kings Langley which as you can see from the pictures and footage it was amazing it went ahead. Full marks to the players for getting stuck in and making a game of it. Hoddy deserved a draw I think.

Great coverage as always but with all seriousness, are you sure this game should have gone ahead? If that isn't a waterlogged pitch, I don't know what is!

Had there been any serious injuries in the game I would have questioned the sanity of any official giving the go ahead on such a pitch. As it goes, no pretty football was evident from the clips, just lobs in the box in the vain hope of someone making an error which resulted in at least one of the goals.

I thought the rule of thumb was if the ball doesn't bounce on any part of the wet pitch, it is deemed to be waterlogged?

With alot more rain forecast over the next few days, I think alot of the weekends fixtures could end up postponed also.

Good point for St.Mags at Royston.

Division One

0 6 Stony Stratford Town v AFC Dunstable

Attendance 25

A report on this one from Tuesday:

Spartan South Midlands League Division 1

Stony Stratford Town 0 AFC Dunstable 6 att. 25 (h/c)

Very wet and muddy and that was just walking from the clubhouse to the stand! Stony were reduced to ten men on 20 minutes making this a routine 3 points for Dunstable, who could afford the luxury of missing 2 penalties. Talk in the stand was of the work both Stony and Bradwell will have to do to make their grounds up to step 6 requirements. Will be interesting to see exactly where New Bradwell will put their turnstiles.

Premier Division

3 3 Aylesbury v Chalfont St Peter

Attendance 79

A report on this thriller:

Aylesbury FC (1) 3

Chalfont St Peter (3) 3

South Mids Prem

Att 79 (according to SML website, counted just over 100 in 2nd half)

Admission £6

Prog £1 (very good)

Fanzine 20p

Coffee 90p (medium cup, no hot food, teabar staff did not turn up)

Another season, another name at Stocklake, 3rd v 1st, don't seem to like each other, much swearing both on and off the field, including a small incident on the terrace near the end of the game, much shouting and pushing and maybe the odd punch thrown, seemed most involved were 50 plus in age.

Poor referee and lino's, late kick-off, did not come out of the dressing rooms until 7.45pm, then all the respect thing, a bit wasted as things turned out. Numberous heavy challenges all through the game by both teams, the referee seemed unable to find his cards, by half time Chalfont were 3-1 up in what was not the greatest half seen this season, though the pitch was very muddy. If there was ever a good example of where the lino's should run the opposite half of the line it was tonight, where the lino on the nearside was running in mud with no touchline visable.

Second half better than the first, though it did not start until 8.57pm !. Still numberous late, over the top and two footed tackles, more lectures and no action by the ref. Two goals by Aylesbury FC saw them get a draw, they did score two penalties, one in each half. Ref added on 2 minutes in the first half and 5 in the 2nd, should really have been more in both cases. As one fan said on the way out, last week at Luton there was 7 minutes of added time in the 2nd half, and there were far fewer stoppages then tonight.

One black mark for Chalfont, the centre half had different coloured socks to the rest of his team.

Not a good advert for a top of the table SML game, was not as good as a top of the table Hellenic game.

New turnstyle block in situ using the old turnstyles from Buckingham Road and maybe even Turnfurlong Lane before that.

Rhodes..No id to the original post, could tell it did not come from you.. He thought late kick off only because ..cloud covering stars, this end of the world we use watches, he thinks hellinic is better than ssml..most exciting nuetral game for ages, even the officials might have enjoyed it, Ch.St.P. should have been down to ten men after the first few minutes..blind lino the ref was wearing C.S.P. No 12. Not one normally to moan and I will give credit when due. C.S.P. are a big strong fast biggest load of whinging screaming girls I have seen on a football field, I could not wish to watch that or listen to that every week.

Cant just be me, some one please varyfy!

This is truly a heinous crime in my book and Referees should clamp down on it
