Beaconsfield 1-4 Slough

Great result for us in the end as at one stage it looked as though the game was going to be a carbon copy of Saturday's match with fans thinking oh not again!! Started slowly and they took the lead out of nothing with our heads down and the team lacking confidence.

As soon as we went 2-1 ahead in the second I thought we controlled the match though and Perks apart from the goal had to do little (much like Saturday). Fully deserved win in the end.

Just one thing though can't help but feel in the run in though we may need a 'Leon Hibbert' type player again, as sometimes I think that's missing from our game.

Looking forward to Saturday. Well done Rebels.

I put this in another thread but worth repeating here.

7 straight away wins in the league

4 home games in the league without a win

Peculiar

I think its all to do with away grounds being flatter and better maintained than Holloway Park.

Like tonight, the better maintained away pitches suit our style of play more, so we win more often.

1st half was pretty rubbish from us but was vital that we got that equaliser before half time as it settled the team and the fans down a bit.

2nd half we slowly got on top and once we took the lead it was very comfortable. Beaconsfield were bound to let their heads drop a bit especially after losing 7-1 days ago

wouldn't say we was amazing or anything but very much job done and the 1st hat-trick from a slough player in quite some time by Buchanan who always looks like getting a goal or two. 14 goals he has now and i can see him getting at least to 20 maybe even 25 this season.

nice to see all 3 subs played a part as well tonight. Martin done really well to rob the defender and win the penalty. fair play to him letting Elliot get his hat-trick rather than take it himself. plus Sippetts won another pen or was about to had the ref not allowed Jesus walk the ball into the net on the advantage

we still have to work on restricting the ease of which opponents attack us but least we got back to winning ways. next 2 games going to prove much sterner tests though i am certain of that

Obviously said in jest Ted.

I know we've played on some poorish away pitches this season but none as 'bobbly' and uneven as Beaconsfield's which is probably the worst type of pitch to play on for the type of players we've got.

Not wishing to sound too negative after a 4-1 win but are we becoming a bit of a one-trick pony? Jarvis was watching last night and had I been him my overriding impression would have been if we stop the wide men, especially Sincs, they're stuffed. If teams are doubling up on Herron and Sincs then somebody must or should have space but it doesn't look that way.

Good to see Elliott Buchanan get his hat trick - the first since Andy Ballard in the Westveiw Cup quarter final on 31st January 2006 when he scored a perfect hat trick - only took us 4 years and 15 days to get the next!

Overall I thought the game was very average and it was only due to SYCOB's heads going down after the second that we ended up with such a flattering score.

Sinclaire was all over the place making openings, however as said above we need other areas of creativity to keep other teams on their toes - once Sincs has two good defenders put on him such as Satuday things naturally dry up. Possibly someone like Mo Sharif in the middle running at defences could be an option?

Grateful for the 3 points, but will need to perform 100% for the next few games against more demanding teams.

Hope he does think that as Burnham's pitch is pretty good normally which will help our style of play more than at SYCOB. If they put 3 men on Sincs it may open up gaps for others. You could arguably say the same with them for Stuart Swift.

Bit suprised by some comments on the thread. Yes we were not brilliant yesterday, but never really had to be and won fairly comfortably 4-1 in the end. You can only beat what is front of you which we did so it was a good result. This will raise spirits as we've looked a team struggling for form in recent games.

Against Sudbury, their left winger the number 11 was dropping back and doubling up on Sincs.

In theory if the opposition use their wide men to double up on Sincs or Heron this should enable Sweeney or Murphy the time and space to forage forward giving their wide men something else to think about other than just Sincs or Heron.

Either way SB needs a plan B because Burnham succeeded in keeping Sincs quiet in the first game and as you say Jarvis will employ the same tactics on Tuesday.

Ian

I think that given time this is where Dean clark will play a big role alongside edgeworth. Edgeworth can distribute it and free up space as clark can get into positions. This will also work well including the front men also.

going on his last couple of performances i wouldn't want to trust dean any where there was an opposition player near, seems that he is afraid to tackle and on that basis i would leave him out against burnham as they are a very physical side and would not suit his style of play at all.

This result was very pleasing to hear about - had a very disastrous trip to my holiday destination in La Palma which involved my 10hour journey taking 37hours. Great to hear about Elliot's hat-trick too, been a while since we have had one of those! Hopefully this will see a pick up in performances, especially with Sutton Coldfield on Saturday, if we beat them we will be 15 points ahead of them which is a very comfortable margin at this stage of the season.

Well done Rebels.

I'm far from sure that is the case, or a least I don't think it is the reason for our better away performances.

If you look at SB's reord at Hemel, it happened there to.

Hemel Hempstead Town 2007/8 P42 Home W8 D6 L 7 Away W11 D5 L5

2008/2009 was even more weighed to away victories until he left half way though the season. It must be something to do either with tactics or the type of players he chooses. I'm not complaining, just wondering 'why?'
