Body Found in Search for

Missing Iraq Dossier 'Mole'

 

POLICE searching for a missing adviser on Iraqi arms have found a body.

 

Dr David Kelly, 59, was reported missing by his family yesterday.

 

He was named as the possible "mole'' for a BBC report claiming the Government "sexed up'' its dossier on weapons of mass destruction.

 

Thames Valley Police said the unidentified male body was discovered this morning at Harrowdown Hill, about five miles from Dr Kelly's home in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

 

He went missing at around 3pm yesterday after telling his wife he was going for a walk, Thames Valley Police said.

 

The family called police when he had failed to return by 11.45pm.

 

Dr Kelly faced a grilling on Tuesday by MPs on the Foreign Affairs Committee about what he told BBC reporter Andrew Gilligan, who filed the original report claiming the Government had "sexed up'' the weapons dossier.

 

He admitted he had met Mr Gilligan a week before he broadcast his story on the Radio 4 Today programme about the Iraq dossier. But he said he did not think he could have been the source for the story.

 

Dr Kelly told MPs that Mr Gilligan's account of his conversation with his source for the story was so different from their conversation that he did not believe that he could be the source.

 

The Government claimed Dr Kelly had come forward voluntarily to admit he had spoken to the reporter. But when he gave evidence, some MPs suggested he had been set up as a fall guy by the Government.

1. he is an educated man he must know that some pain killers and slitting a wrist aint a pleasent way to peg it..

2. no note?? what a family man makes no preparation for his family? no goodbye message just strolls off into the woods ..

 

ok maybe he was depressed..maybe he was under extreme stress but what could they do to him? at his age in a govmnt job he must have been relativly secure financially so a sacking would hurt maybe his pride? but thats about it...

 

even if we go down the road of him not being able to handle this kind of stress i still cant believe he'd top himself knowing what it would do to his family
