In view of the article in the Non league paper how many of us believe that we should attempt to persuade MB back to the club, I will start and say we need him back and currently there is no one out there who could do a better job !!!!!!!!

Absolutely. Swallow your pride board, and pick up the phone and give Mark Butler the deal he's told the press he wanted. If money is an issue then I'm sure there's supporters that wouldn't mind coughing up the extra to keep him here. MFC needs it. People show passion for the game in different ways. MB is a born winner and that's exactly what we need - desperately.

I also agree-what a pleasure it was to have a professional and eloquent manager, who knew his way around this league.

He would have come good.

Signs are'nt good though-one suspects both parties probably a bit stubborn (MB displayed this over the haverson affair ) and i suspect there is a board agenda here.

Hope i am wrong-and i think for many-the re-appointment of Butler would provide continuity and an massive uplift for the supporters and club.

As others say-swallow your pride on both sides-there is always a way-its finding the way-i'm sure not all MB's requests need to be met.

I have no doubt that without Butler-and for the inevitable delay otherwise-Margate will be relegated this season-tradegy.

As said above, nothing is impossible and there must be a chance that the board could reconsider. Lets all let them know what we want and E-mail the club today asking them to sit down and talk. I will start with mine now.

Can't remember if I said this on another thread, but on a realistic list of prospective candidates to include everyone mentioned on the various threads over the last few years, I firmly believe that Mark Butler's name is at the top in terms of the one that ticks the boxes for where we are at and want to be in 5 years time.

It would be a crying shame for anyone else to be in the hotseat in my opinion. Please find a way to sort it out.

Lets keep it going, come on you regular posters let us know your views and lets try some fan power !!!!

Much as I agree with the sentiments of this thread, hasn't MB made the situation untenable?

Whether he resigned or threatened to resign, he was perceived to have resigned or threatened to resign ... once you go down that path there is no going back. The estranged parties have gone past the point of no return - if you lose the trust that their working relationship needs to be a success - the partnership is doomed to failure.

Sorry to put a downer on the thread - but for those reasons I can't see MB coming back.

Sorry thats in my mind nonsense, if we believe the reports KP "was shocked" and MB "didnt want to go" what is the problem can you imagine the reception MB would get on Tuesday and all of a sudden KP will be popular !!! I might even buy him a drink. Why dont we let the board know what we the fans want? we know MB is good for this club and it seems he wants to be here, so a contract to the end of the season is not a lot to ask, come on give us your views !!!!!!!!!!!!

With respect, I disagree. I don't see it as a trust issue. I see it all the time in the workplace where professionals are involved - and by that I mean workers that are 'experts' in their field and not easily replaced.

It would take both parties to WANT to sit down, and maybe confront issues in tandem, rather than head on.

There are thousands of workplaces up and down the land where a fundamental disagreement HAS to be settled in order for both parties to continue. In this case, do both parties want to?

Don't get me wrong - I would love to be wrong about this ... but Mark himself said to the local press (probably while he was still angry about the whole matter)

"I'm devastated it's come to this but I couldn't work with Keith Piper any more. I didn't know whether I was coming or going with him."

Now, if he had kept that thought to himself it might be a different matter - but he didn't.

I hope I am wrong - as I really believed he could get us to being Ryman title contenders rather than relegation fighters.
