Dartford 7 V 1 reserves

7-1, sounds bad and at times was grim. But in the circumstances, better than could have been. with only 12 players fit???? and" Phil Fennel" having to play the full 90 (yes the full 90, spoke to him later in the evening, he was so sore he could hardly gt out the chair) . Things couldn't have started more badly for our keeper young Luke Prentice, ball chipped over him and in in the second minute, and though not is fault 3 down in 16 minutes. This sounds bad for the lad who was still cutting himself up after the Rams game, it wasn't, he pulled of a string of great saves over the 90 + minutes, getting out to the edge of the area to claim the ball of their no 10's feet(definitely a first teamer, pin point passing and touch, ran their show). All in all the lads on the pitch gave their all.

After all the Dartford dominance, if, we had taken our chances we could have gone in at 4-4. Centre back Joe Beech (who had his moments) got a consolation.

My man of the Match. I would like to give it to 16 year old George Amber, ran his legs off up front on his own 1st half, !6 year Aaron, Luke for his saves, the list is 12 men long. Unfortunately only one can be m-o-m, Aaron Beech, led by captains example(close second for me would be Marcus Potter who played the full 90 despite carrying a stud injury from Tuesday. Chas Albrect who always gives is all.

Pluses for me was team spirit, and George Amber though a fiery little character showed great maturity in not losing his temper, and controlling himself well after his for nothing booking. Use your height as an advantage george, get under players, let then fall over you.

Personal view.

Others who. took the day off need to ask themselves, do I really want to play football as a career or just play at it.

The point yesterday was that we had 10 injuries + JK took a number including Dan G-B to Hornchurch. Kane Hemmings is also out with a broken toe gained at Hythe Tuesday night. These are facts.

When you look at it Tom results do not really matter in the reserves, yes we would all like to win it all, but, experience is the name of the game. If things are handled well then youngster like George will have gained a lot yesterday.

I don't now if any one will agree with me on this, We have a big squad if you include the U18's, I would love to see us field 2 reserve teams, 1st in the Ryman reserve league and the 2ND in the Kent League.

The teams in the Kent Div one are no different from the ones in the second, it's the same level, so why not one league. Hythe are bottom of die2 but are no different than any team we have played in the league this season, it's down to who's available and when.

Personally I would like to see us withdraw from the Floodlight next year and play friendlies every other Tuesday against teams from say Ebbsfleet, Orient, Millwall , Charlton, The Gills etc. put pressure on them to up their performances.

With the artificial pitch hopefully coming on stream next season this should make it possible.

Sorry I missed agoal. It was 8 - 0

That'll teach you to forget to pack your boots Graeme - you'd have got a place on the bench !!!!!

On a more serious note - almost every report for the Ressies shows Aarron Beech getting rave reviews - but he doesn't seem to get near to first team selection - is there a reason for this ? He looked promising pre-season for the 1st XI.
