East Thurrock United FC

Most people are expecting a very tight game today between two well matched 'top 5 finish' teams. Many think it is too close to call. Will home advantage swing it East Thurrock's way, or will 'Town' stamp their authority, show what they are capable of ,and come away with the three points. What is your prediction ???

Just about to head to the game..Will give you my prediction when i get back.

Bet you regularly win the pools and lottery ! I will go for a one goal margin to Town if we keep a tight (Vinnie Jones) grip on Sam Higgins and manage to keep his name off the score sheet. We'll see !!

Full time 0-0 I am off to Jims stats to see when we last played a no score draw

Thanks seemgee. Yes, that will be interesting. Still, a precious away point is always welcome against one of the top placed contenders. We might yet meet them again in play-offs. Well done you Town lads. Make home advantage count on Tuesday evening.

match report and action on THE COLD END

Thanks to all re the positive feedback and comments regarding the footage from Tuesday night.

In short - Clean sheet against 2nd top scoring side in the league is a point well gained.

Yes agree, on paper a decent point and probably a result we'd have taken before kick off i.e a clean sheet as well.

Saying that, the heat is beginning to build up with our last 3 results of 2 positive draws and a game we should have won, 2 point from 9. Its very important we now pick up 4-6 points from our 2 home games against a very much improving and in-form Brentwood on Tuesday and Northwood who turned us over at there place. Win these two games and we are very much controlling our end of season aim of a play off spot.

With it being half term and the weather somewhat milder, lets all get to these two games and play our part in encouraging our lads to victory. We on the sidelines have a big part to play as well if we wish to see Ryman Prem footy in our borough next season.

Sorry I'm a bit late with my prediction, but belatedly i'll go for 0-0. :snack:

Was one of the better scoreless games i've been too..Both teams counter attacking well and looking to gain the victory.Thought ETU played very well once down to 10 men.Even match, but Town had the best chances.Wallace had two unchallanged shots on target from 6 yards out that should have both been easily put away.We should have also had a penalty when the keeper grabbed Hope around the neck as he was about to head the ball into an empty net (which would have also resulted in the keeper being sent off)..In summary..Both teams did enough to suggest they will both be involved in the promotion play-offs.

Ps..Loved the supporter that when tits over the fence when going for a loose ball.Brought back thoughts of Fruitbats tumble over the barrier at Hayes many years ago.

It was actually Marks and, as you can see from the photo he only got clear in the first place thanks to a hand-off that wouldn't have been out of place at Twickenham.

Sorry.meant Marks

Hand-off that wouldn't be out of place at twickenham??? Looks like Paul is camply sprinkling seasoning into his soup..He's the one in contact with the ball.He is stationary, whilst keeper (who was panicking after letting the ball go over his head into an empty penatly area) is rushing at him. The pic was taken a second or two before the keeper ultimately pulled him back...Great photo though.

At teh time I was walking round to the refreshment area and was directly behind the goal for this incident. I dont think that their was a foul by either player. It is clear that the goalkeeper was going for the ball in the photograph above and there was no malice by Marks. I did not see the goalkeeper holding marks who lost the ball as his first touch was not good enough.
