Boney Crisp
Funny how people seem to forget the amount of times Piper has been declared bankrupt and the amount of problems he's had with the HMRC. Sounds like a great business man with a great plan to me? I'm sorry for those things alone i can't trust the man and because he has the last say on everything it's hard to be positive about the club, no matter how hard i try. I made my mind up about Piper not being good enough for this club at the age of 15 and that has very rarely changed, apart from when he helped finance us moving back here and the times he has financed us to stay alive, but every step forward we make we have this tendancy of making 2 steps back. It seems there is greater potential in a blind man crossing over the M25 and getting hit by a lightning bolt once he gets to the other side, then there is of us becoming a force in non-league football atm. I like everyone else wants the best for Margate and i think there are better things out there for the club then what is currently here. Not stating that with the team, haven't seen enough this season to make proper judgement on that yet, but it's unfair on the lads that the team keeps on changing and so does the management team. Boney Crisp
You are assuming there are other people out there prepared to put money into the club? I think the club is playing at its natural level. Conf South is the highest we can aim for. Sure, ideally I would like us to be higher in the Ryman Premier but people seem to have the notion we ought to be a Conference team. The truth is we could do better, but we really ain't doing that badly. Well said, but why not aim higher then that? I think it's wrong in football to be happy where you are, you should always strive to be better then that and the fact that although i feel this is the clubs rightful level atm, it sickens me that we are getting worse, therefore can you really say that this a natural place, when we are struggling to stay there? left the forum
I was under the impression that Mr Piper and the other directors were putting money into the club to keep it going. If that is so how will their stepping down help? It would probably help if his involvement ends and other people with less baggage take over the club. I dont think anybody knows who has invested what in the club. I think the club has lost the faith of most potential suppoorters (including those who might invest) and i dont see it coming back in a hurry. The lack of progress on and off the pitch looks set to continue until there is a change at the top. Hope i am wrong and that if KP stays he does get things right eventually. There was something on the news today about Margate having 27% of shops empty,it would be good for the town if there was a local success story to talk about rather than depressing news. Funny how everyone thinks investment is just money. I can tell you what the new board have invested and that is alot of their time, hardwork and knowledge. I dont know many people who have worked within teams of the status of Cliff Egan, however if there is other Premiership Club Commercial Managers out there willing to give a hand please step forward. Cliff is working late into the evenings, weekends and was at the game again today, now ask his family what he is investing - time that could be spent relaxing and not worrying about how to keep a club running. Also spending money on football matche tickets is a luxury in some families and a luxury that alot of people have had to cut back on. However the constant winging on here just makes people feel down about the situation and going to matches. It isnt giving the club a good image. blue balls
So the mess we are in is all the fault of the fans is it Sazzled? We have stuck by this club through thick and thin only to be shafted by it time after time.
left the forum
Sorry i didnt see in my post where I blamed it upon the fans at all. all I am saying is that you should give people time to prove what they can do, and maybe a little more credit for the good things they are doing instead of looking at the downside of things. I just feel all the moaning that is going on will give outsiders who may consider coming to the match a bad impression. Sorry if you took offence this, but I feel that some of the board are not being given credit where credit is due, and people are overlooking to extreme hardwork and commitment being given. as supporters you should stick through the hard times as well as enjoy the good times. However there seems to be some people who seem to be turning their back on the club when things are not going as they wish ( that is not directed at any one in particular before I get another comment for this one.) Sazzled, I agree that people should be given time to prove themselves so why did our wonderful board not give MB a contract to continue the signs of improvements that were on display in our performances? left the forum
Gateman I am not on the board so can not answer that question, but I am sure if you ask them then maybe they will give you an answer. From my understanding they were shocked at his resignation. there is always to sides to every story and some decisions have to be made which are influenced by finances, the current sitauation etc. The board will not always be able to make decisions that everyone agrees with however I know that some of the board only makes decisions that they feel are right for the club. Richard and cliff joined the board as they have a great passion for the club and only make decisions that they feel are for the best. they are doing their best in the current situation the club is in.
