Not the foul language thread again

i've been quite tight lipped over this as ive been reading but i just gotta say something. Personally this feels like its directed at the choir, this may not be the case but usually when this topic comes up, the choir(me included) seem to be the ones approached about it. Ive always made my opinions clear about this YOU WILL NEVER STOP SWEARING IN FOOTBALL GROUNDS it happens and i myself am guilty of this too, however, When there is small kids in the vacinity i tend not to use foul language. I have a son who sometimes attends with me and even if a i slip a swear word out in front of him at home he always pulls me up on it and tells me off lol. If the club is going to slap a 6 match ban on people who swear then they will be banning sooooo many fans young and old then that will hit them in the pocket harder than things are at the moment because if your gonna do this MFC then you have to be consistant and that is not a word i usually associate with MARGATE FOOTBALL CLUB. I love this club as have been a fan for a long time(not as long as some of you granted) and have seen this club go through so much crap i attended every single game bar 1 when we groundshared at ashford and dover and the fans got sweet FA for their commitment and loyalty not even a free game lol. MFC have never really been good to their fans anyway so why are we expecting anything different now??

i applaud the choir for the dedication and support they give the team as i do everyone that turns up on matchdays some more vocal than others. But i'm sorry i cannot agree to this 6 match ban for swearing so i guess i will be one of those banned.

i remember a little while back the FA wanted to be stricter on the language used on the pitch and for referees to be more forceful with foul language on the pitch, has this worked well week in week out i hear foul language from players and managers without punishment so what you gonna do MFC send a steward on the pitch halfway through an attack and escort players or managers out of the stadium i think not.

SO stop alienating those people that have stuck with you through thick and thin and were behind you when you asked us too and when we turned up to the council offices in full support of our cause and when we groundshared and when the developement fell through and when you needed fans to come help paint, build and pick stones out of the surface for a new pitch stop kicking us in the b o llox

enough said thats it and this is my own personal opinion and may or may not be the views of other margate fans

Good post John but am I missing something here, have the club officially said anybody swearing will be banned 6 games? Seems rather OTT to me I must admit.

Cheers guys. I'm sure KP is happy in the knowledge that he asked for those who cheer the team week in week out to be reprimanded, yet did nothing about the bloke who said "F*** off Wilson" when a pass went astray. Swearing comes from all sections of the crowd. We're an easy target. Handing out six game bans if it happens again!!

My view is if the odd swear is uttered in a song, like you hear in any ground that should be fine (like the Hendon fan who was signing 2 nil and U F****D it up, which we did!!!)

If someone is being abusive to a certain player, teams or another fan then they should be warned to tone it down then if they continue then and only then should they maybe be ejected.

My opinion only as I say. Must admit when I helped out stewarding I used this too great effect and everybody I spoke too, inc away fans were fine!

personal abuse i agree with although the majority of the bad feeling at times is aimed at the team and not individuals i think swearing and personal abuse are not even on same page unless you call someone a *&£K)& @@~#[ )&b(*& lol lol

i was a steward for 2 seasons too and tbh it didnt seem to be that much of a problem

None of us agree with this petty swearing ban (providing its not excessive bad language) but pointing the finger at others isn't on either!

I'm not accusing anybody in particular cos that would make me as sad as them, they know who they are and should be ashamed of themselves.

The Club has to be seen to act on the complaints and has done, there's many ways to fight it sensibly but trying to put the blame on others isn't one of them.

After talking to Peter last night he explained to me why he and the stewards did what they did at Ashford and Hendon game and, to be honest I have to now agree with the decision. Peter is approachable at games and I am sure he would explain to any of you what happened at both games, give it a try.

I know you haven't pointed the finger at the choir, but reading between the lines you seem to think it. None of us spoke to any of the directors, or stewards last night. Or at any time since we were given our warning at the weekend. Don't think we would be trying to help them do you? Sounds like the safety officer has tried to cover his back to avoid too much stick from you guys. I know other fans that are angry about the way we were spoken to so maybe a few of them have had their own words with directors/stewards and that resulted in something else happening last night.
