I totally agree 3 months is not long enough, but as already mentioned we dont know the full details of his leaving. I personally thought we were playing better under his control, but unfortunately we dont have the full details and as a footnote would it be too far fetched for him to be heading to Maidstone!!!!!

Whoever he joins, they will be a better club for it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions on MB and mine are that he is not only a top class manager, he is also a top class person.

Not been proven at our level yet tho Phil, though I agree a top class bloke.

Whoever our new manager is he will still have my 100% backing, despite my thoughts on the MB saga.

Iain O C manager Saunders and pinno back and maybe even terry Mcflynn but dont build your hopes up guys its the boards decision us fans dont have a say

There's no two ways about it, O'Connell would be a gamble. The club are gambling with our survival in the division by their lack of foresight.

isnt life 1 big gamble porka lets face it what does tomorrow bring and if we knew it would be great.

I will carry on bringing myself and son and grandad (dannyriding) for as long as i can.Up The Gate

Gutted that MB has gone but it's happened and O'Connell is the obvious next choice imo. Phild is right. He's had great success at what is really a tiny non league club. To do what he's done at such a small club means he is relatively proven at non league level. And he is proper Gate.

Other than him there would be only one other candidate for me - the return of the great man - won't mention it for fear of a slaughtering.

Not sure O'Connel would be the right choice for this club, as been said before he is not proven at this level and it would be a gamble and i'm not sure if he would be able to attract any players who are good enough to the team. We need a manager with experience, a manager who has been in this position before with clubs, both position wise and financially, we need a manager who will be passionate about the club. Sadly I can't think of anybody who comes to mind, apart from MB himself. The board have really shot themselves in the foot here, they really have.

As normal I sit by the Lake on a Monday Morning here in Limone reading my copy of the Non League Paper I notice that Great Wakering Rovers lost 1-0 at home to VCD. Bang go any thoughts of promotion then for GWR.

Oh well will just have to suck a little harder on the Lemons then.

well said Giorgio, i do believe that iain has lost a few of his players to clubs more financially well off, which is what happens when you put a run of wins together, i do not believe that there is a great differance between the level of football in our league compared to theres, If Iain was to get the job i think he would inject a lot of passion and desire for the club and attract players that want to play for margate and not so much the money.

Still what does it matter what i think any way.

I will be there through thick and thin

up the gate

On the basis that the clubs recruitment advert asks for experience at step 3 and above, does this disqualify O'Connell straight away ?

(or are the ryman regional divisions also classified as step 3 ? )

Not that too much should be read into the advert maybe.

Personally-i'd prefer Jim Ward
