Woodford United 0-1 Slough Town

Goal from Sinclair in about 7 minutes. We had to hold on in the second half as Woodford applied heavy pressure but they created nothing clear-cut whilst we missed some good chances on the break.

Edgeworth put in a real captain's performance at centre-back and was outstanding, whilst Sinclair also had a very good game. Vital three points against an in-form side.

Their first defeat in nine. Wasn't pretty, but at the same time whilst they had all the play in the second half, we still created the clearer chances whilst they struggled to test Perks. Given Bury were held at Chesham, means we gain ground on one of those above us.

Great week for us with six points from two difficult away games.

Scrappy game today but never was going to be a classic on a pitch that made Holloways Park look like the Emirates and probably the worst we've played in a number of weeks. Probably should have been two-goals to the good going in at half-time, but second-half Woodford played pretty well second-half and probably consider themselved unlucky not to get a point. But having said that as others said Perks had virtually nothing to do. Woodford will be a very tricky place for the other top teams to go though. Three points all that mattered.

As Matt said and I agree Sincs will get the headlines, but Bowden-Hasse and Edgeworth especially were outstanding at the back today.

Also strange day from a weather point of view leaving Burnham in a t-shirt and needing four jackets when you arrived at Woodford!!

A real backs to the wall performance although I thought we invited a lot of the pressure ourselves by sitting very deep at times. That said, Perks had no real saves to make. Brilliant and very different performances from Sincs and Edgeworth - Sincs tormenting their left back every time he got the ball and Edge like a rock at the back. If we're serious about mounting a challenge we need to go to places like this and win so it's a great result.

Forgot to say today we also passed our points total we got from the whole of last season.

I think now everyone's played the same number of games at the top-end that’s made the picture at the top a little clearer.

The top-four now eight points clear of Chesham with Chesh having played a game more. Having said that I think they will have a strong-end to the season.

Hitchin five points clear of us and the chasing pack but have to play Slough, Burnham, Chesham, Bury, Arlesey and Biggleswade ALL away before the end of the season. Very tricky, and fair play to them if they gain maximum points from those tough away games.

Until Bury now on (10th April) we have 11 out of 17 games to be played at Holloways Park and two of the away games in this period very local at Burnham and Marlow where we will have a lot of support.

Whatever happens between now and the end of the season to us it will be interesting!!

Well at times it was backs to the wall stuff in the second half , brilliant display by Paul Edgeworth and all the others giving their 100% for the Team.. special mention to Steve Sinclair -

Who just kept going on a very heavy pitch...fitness told today ...

However we could not take our eye off the ball , as it was such a tight game..

Would have been a little easier if Tommy's goal had been allowed to stand - mid way through the 2nd Half...but we are home bound to Slough with 3 points, and that will do very nicely...

thanks to our battling Rebels...

Have to agree Paul Edgeworth was immense at the back today closely followed by Sincs and a typically faultless performance by Simon Sweeney.

I certainly don't think Woodford deserved a share of the spoils. Although they looked a good team who will prove to be very difficult to beat for the rest of the season, we restricted them to very few chances whilst we created some good chances and on another day we would have scored at least 2 or 3.
