HORNCHURCH 6 POTTERS BAR 0

On a damp night the match started late as the visitors were held up on the M25. Urchins kicked towards the windmill end in the first half and play was largely confined to midfield, until Urchins took the lead when SOZ YA O hit a free kick through the wall for the opening goal. Potters Bar went close when Gaz Dauti crashed a shot against the bar, and both sides had chances to score, before Soz Yao made a good run along the wing and crossed the ball inside to ROSS WALL, whose hammered a first time volley into the net. Potters Bar came back quickly and Gaz Dauti raced through to fire in a hard shot from the edge of the area, only for Michael Bowditch to fling himself sideways and tip the shot over the bar. The corner was swerved low into the centre and Jonathan Spencer turned the ball out for another corner.

The second half saw Urchins increase their lead within seconds when Soz Yao set off down the left wing and he turned the ball inside to ROSS WALL who calmly stroked the ball home. And two minutes later it was SOZ YAO again, coming in from the right wing to fire the ball home. Potters Bar almost pulled a goal back when Tyler Campbell broke through and his hard shot cannoned back off the post. Michael Bowditch was then called upon to make two fine saves in succession but play was then halted for several minutes when Matt Evans was treated for a leg injury following a mistimed tackle.

The lengthy stoppage seemed to affect both teams and for a time play was confined to midfield, but Hornchurch went further ahead when Soz Yao’s free kick from the left was glided neatly home by MITCHELL STUART-EVANS. The scoring was completed with a ROSS WALL penalty after Richard Kehi was brought down. Despite the long stoppage, no time was added on at the end.
