Was funny getting the drinks in and then hearing the players react to the news from the changing room. I think they were happy! Either that or malc had got the porn out again.

I have to say it was a very good match tonight. VT are no mugs and played well, had a few chances and probably should have scored, but we were better and all the players again put in a top performance. But Chennell's first two finishes, wow!! He hit the ball so hard and with such precision the keeper never stood a chance, the second even broke the net!!!!

 

Cinderford did us a big favour, but we have them in a few weeks so no time for complacency, and I agree with Woody we have to look at this as a 5 point lead and that is all.

 

On a final note, the ref had a good game, I point this out as he could have booked a number of players (mostly VT to be fair) but didn't, he let the game flow and for the most part was invisible, the game wasn'tnasty but was competitive and he obviously used his common sense when giving out free kicks and the few cards he dished out.

 

But the players proved why we are top of the league, well done chaps and keep it going for Saturday!!!

Was going to go myself, but a mate who lives near there refused to go on account of VT being very poor last saturday !!

 

Look out for Cinderford. We beat them 4 nil a couple of weeks ago, but they were better than us in the first half (apart from a blantant penalty, that only the ref missed). After going one up, they had one sent of and then all one way.

Talking to one of theirs, they have got some new faces in, so may be on the up. they definitely did not look like a bottom half team. they looke far better than VT were on Boxing day.

 

Both Cinderford and totton had one off tonight. Williams for Totton, not a huge loss IMO for a few games

I thought VT were one of the better sides i've seen this season. Just behind you and Frome if you ask me but they just couldnt break down our defence and couldnt deal with out forwards

 

It's certainly been an easy morning at work today dispite only 3 hours sleep!! Still buzzing about last night!

My Dad is a Cinderford supporter, and he said he went to a game and suddenly didn't recognise a majority of the team. Considering their recent form not a bad thing it appears, good to see we have them in a few weeks just as they hit form!!

 

He was chuffed to bits with the result last night, and as a long time Windsor fan he had a double whammy with the two results for the night.

 

Stag W, as we aren't allowed on your forum, what is the general concensus there, playing and well and that was freak result or concerns over current performances?

 

Just wondering cos it is interesting to look at other message boards and see what they are saying (if you're allowed of course)

Poor performance last night apparently. I wasn't there, too far for a mid week.

Lack of game recently probably doesn't help. Not much to worry about I don't think. In a normal season we would probably be top, it is just that you are having an exceptional season.

Must keep in mind tha 2 seasons ago we were in the Wessex league so last year in the play off's and this year in second is a considerable achievement I think. With the new ground next season (4500 capacity) things look pretty rosy on the whole.

Anyone remember late 80's FA cup last quaifying round. You were at ours and I think we were one up when abandoned as it pi..ed down all day. The match was then a draw an we lost at yours in the replay. You have always been a bogey side !!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree a very good performance to come up and maintain a top 2 or three spot consistently and play football that without us or Truro would probably have meant the title and a comfortable top third in the Premier. You have been very unfortunate in your 2 seasons to meet a couple of teams in such rude health, but then a bit of money here, a top quality manager there and it gets a bit tougher.

 

I thought last season the top 5 or 6 clubs were stronger than this year, with just Windsor and Totton looking different class. Last year there was Truro, us, Totton, Didcot, Beaconsfield and a few others always there or thereabouts until the end of the season.

 

On a personal note if you could have a similar collapse like last year and we could not have one then it would be very much appreciated, but I fear this could go allthe way with the retunr match at your place being very important.

 

anyway, good luck for the season, just not too much eh? ;-)

Wathching VT on Boxing day and some of the other mid table teams, i agree, not as stong as last year. i don't anticipate a run like last year when injuries were a problem (unless of course that happens again).

I think that by then it may only be a case of whether we get a home match for the play off's

I was kind of assuming that Totton's last game would be put back to the same day - seems the absolute least the League could do in the circumstances. Are there any moves afoot Stag?

The league has already stated that any game already scheduled cannot be moved into the extension.

Again it would seem the league has shot themselves in the foot.

 

Given the exceptional circumstances, would it have been so difficult for the league to have turned round to Totton and at least given them the opportunity to move their game to the Monday, if Totton wanted to and obviously if they could agree it with the opposition (Taunton).

It's not just a case of shooting themselves in the foot, frankly it's a total disgrace. Jumped up Jobsworth tossers in charge if you ask me.

 

If we go up I'll probably forget all about it quickly, but although heaven knows we seem to need all the advantage we can get right at the moment, my sense of fair play is still outraged by this.
