What a cracking attitude from WGFC Player, beats all of these prima donna's you get throughout the leagues. Good luck, it's soul destroying getting battered weekly, but this kind of commitment is comendable.

Couldn't agree more. I've seen WGFC in action several times - if the other players had half his commitment, things would be v. different.

I would just like to jump on the band wagon of the people backing the WGC player. He is spot on and i do hope people do start backing the players like him and move the club on. The club if run by the right people could be a good club again........It is players like him why I LOVE THE GAME....

I'm thinking Welwyn should be looking to keep things simple and be going back to the basics. The fitness of the players springs immediately to mind.

For example at lunch-time today, when I drove to KFC for my usual bucket of chickens and chips, instead of lazily going through the drive through like normal, I got out of my car in the car-park and walked inside using my legs. Much healthier.

I've also taken to eating apples and bananas on the way to the pub before getting blind drunk and eating other healthy foodstuffs on my return home....if I can find them in my pockets.

I'm sure, with a more scientific approach to their fitness like this, Welwyn won't be getting hammered 0-12 on a weekly basis.

Worth a thought.

Steve Newing and Del Deanus must be thanking their lucky stars they managed to get out of WGC before the bottomless pit of money ran out and the Wembley like playing surface inexplicably fell apart. No one could be succesful under the current circumstances, definitely nothing to do with the players or manager.

I'm also not knocking the current set up as Del and Steve have done little, if anything, wrong since they turned their backs on Leyton and arrived at the Club, my only concern is that their demands on the Chairman will eventually fall on deaf ears and they will sooner or later get frustrated with his apparent lack of ambition and shallow pockets as has been the case with previous Managers and Coaches, don't forget they're big fish swimming in a small pond.

Conrad - This was a post I made on 6 January 2009 when Del and Steve were already pulling up trees at Herns Lane shortly after arriving from Leyton, it went without saying that the so called Dynamic Duo wouldn't last long at Herns Lane

Having played for WGC in recent years, it's a shame seeing the club in the state it is. One of the main problems they have is that they no longer attract the local lads playing at this level. There are a number of decent players from WGC playing at clubs throughout the Spartan Prem. Most of them have played for WGC in the past, but grown tired of the off-field politics and manager merry-go-round that has dogged the club for a few seasons now.

Everytime a new manager comes in, they bring in a whole host of new players with them. Then, when the manager leaves after a few months, the cycle happens again with new players coming in. This has happened repeatedly at Welwyn and as a result and over a period of time, the local players have gradually gone elsewhere. The lack of local players is why Welwyn suffer from poor attendances, as local people want to see some local faces in their side. If you look at Hatfield, they manage to pull large crowds to Herns Lane from the surrounding area, mainly because they have a team that includes local lads and as a result supporters go down and watch people they know.

Hopefully Welwyn can find some stability next season, and I'd love to see them turn things around at the club and (if relegated which it seems is highly likely) get back into the Spartan Prem as soon as possible.
